I already know a large portion of my ancestral history. These results corroborate the history, and vice versa. 23andMe gives you actual timelines for different bloodlines (nationalities) that apply to you. Their traits research is informative and entertaining.

I'm was very excited when I started this journey. My biggest reason was to find answers concerning my biological father. I got my answer and it was really a great feeling to finally know for sure. Thank you 23 and me.

Initially I had to resubmit my kit, but the second sample was the charm. I already had knowledge about some of my lineage, however the picture of my family tree is rather complicated. Which just goes to show you how blended most of probably are. I recomend everyone get a 23 and Me kit to expose the beautiful diversity that makes the human race so strong.

It was mildly informative. I knew most of what they revealed so I wasn't overwhelmed with the results. Perhaps, if you don't have a clue about your ancestry, this would be more exciting to do and spend your money on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Less than expected

There seems to be much that is generalised in the report. I had a fair understanding of my family origins and "23" was only able to supply general information about the unknown ancestry. I was interested to learn that I had more Neanderthal traits than 82% of the population. $100 is, in my opinion, too much to pay for this curious little bit of information.

23 and Me is awesome. The directions were easy to follow. The waiting time is long, but they are thorough. My only disappointment was that 0.4 percent was unassigned. I would've love to have known what that was. Hopefully as they streamline and refine their process system there will no longer be the mysterious "Unassigned" It would be great if it could incorporate a map of origin and migration patterns for the paternal and maternal haplogroups as well as a little more information on those haplogroups.

I received the kit for Christmas and was a bit pessimistic as I've never really thought much about my DNA and what information it holds. It was only after receiving my results, I realized what a true treasure this was. Seeing who I was, where I came from and what makes me, me was not just exciting it was enlightening. Anyone who is thinking of getting their DNA checked....DO IT! You will not be disappointed.

I received an ancestry analysis from my daughter as a Christmas gift. Since I was adopted and know next to nothing about my biological parents, the analysis promised to be revealing. The process was easy and the results were quite in-depth and interesting! It turns out I have more genetic material that originated in Neanderthals than 95% of all analyzed samples! What fun!
I would recommend this to a friend!
