The results are too broad. My son in law got almost identical results

Thank you for your feedback. The 23andMe Health + Ancestry Service is the first and only genetic service available directly to you that includes reports that meet FDA standards. You now are able to receive 65+ reports on health, traits and ancestry instead of exclusively ancestry reports.

Fun & exciting!

I bought the kits for my husband and I for Christmas as he always wondering and hoped he had American Indian in him. We about died of laughter when we read he wasn't any Indian but I was! I never knew!

Maybe not for Middle Eastern

The result of my 23andMe analysis showed that I am 85% or Middle Eastern. Having a family tree that shows that we were living in Lebanon for many generation, that was not that informing. I was hoping that the analysis will show whether my roots come from Arab tribes, any Persian genes, Turkish genes, African genes, Greek, etc. So many cultures passed through the Middle East. None of that. It just told me that I am a Middle Eastern (all cultures blended into one). So was somewhat disappointing.
The rest of the reports were nice to have, but they were not the purposes of my quest.

Thank you for your feedback. The population labels in Ancestry Composition refer to genetically similar groups, rather than nationalities. In general, we sought to make the populations as small as possible, subject to the constraint of being able to distinguish between them. Populations may be inherently difficult to distinguish because of historical mixing, or we might not have had enough data to tell them apart.

Your results are a living analysis. Using thousands of reference individuals we are able to continually evolve and improve your results. We cannot predict when we will be updating our reference populations, but an announcement would likely be made in the Forums or on our blog.

A gift that keeps on giving.

Purchased 23 and me as Christmas gifts for several people. The results came faster than expected. The continuing updates, customer service, incredible!! Not only has it brought us together with DNA, We all visit more to compare our newly found traits. This is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

Simple to do with understandable reports

I was not totally surprised at the results because I had a reasonably good idea of my background. I was a little surprised to discover Finnish, Scandinavian and Iberian elements. The simplicity of the report makes it very informative and easy to understand. It feels good to know my genetic makeup.
