Quite technical

If you want a general idea of your genetic makeup, this will give you that info. Having done family tree work, I learned nothing new and startling. Pretty technical reports are not very well explained or useful. Did not recognize any surname on my list of people related to me. Maybe save your money.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Thank you for your feedback. DNA Relatives locates other 23andMe members that match your DNA. This feature estimates a predicted relationship and range using the length and number of segments and percent DNA shared. When two people share identical segments of DNA, this indicates that they share a recent common ancestor.
Keep in mind that each health, trait and wellness report includes a Scientific Details tab that includes more detailed information.

Amazing Insight into my Ancestry

My husband gave me the DNA kit for Christmas. After the holidays i sent it off. I finally received my results and i was so emotional and filled with joy after finding out about my ancestry. I am recommending the kit to my mom and nephew. Thank you!!!

Great present from my son and family. While I didn't get any big surprises of my ancestry, it did confirm what I've always been told. I loved reading about all the marvelous personalized DNA of just me. Now my daughter and her husband are going to do it.

I found the process I followed for 23and me to be well-described, helpful and easy to follow. I had hoped to find out more about my birth father as I was adopted and know nothing about him. I mostly learned that he had to be of British ancestry.

I got the sampling as a gift. So I wasn't sure what to expect from the results. There didn't appear to be any surprises in my results. I found the reporting of the findings to be difficult to interpret for the average consumer. Perhaps it exists in the reporting but if not, I would suggest adding a easy to understand narrative that translates the results so they are fully understandable by a individual with a 8th grade education.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
