Great Use for the Nomad Line!

We've had the Nomad 7 for a year and bought the Guide 10 Plus just a few days ago. We've used the solar panel far more then we've ever used it before because the panel charges the pack faster then the devices, and the pack charges the devices more reliably, and therefore faster. There are 2 things I dislike about the product. One is the price. While i can use my panel a lot more, a regular [$] is too high. We almost walked away until the sales agent let us know it was on sale for [$]. Also the goal zero batteries are twice as much as other NiMH rechargeable batteries. If there's something unique about the goal zero batteries, I'd love to know it.The other complaint is about the device itself. The switch is Off, Charge, Light. It's very easy to slip past the middle position and then to the light. So when we charge our devices, we have to fiddle with it for a moment to keep it in the middle position. I think a better way would've been to have the light in the middle position,as that will probably be used less.

The Nomad 7 and Guide 10 Plus used together are the perfect combo. The cool thing about our NiMH batteries is that they are low self discharge so they can stay good in storage for 12-18 months without losing any power. They are perfectly designed for the Guide 10 Plus in both mAH and Volts. I will pass your thoughts on the switch to Product Development. We love to hear suggestions from our users.
I have used the Guide 10 Plus for long days of taking photos, tweeting, posting, etc, when I am away from an outlet for extended periods of time. I can carry it in a small fanny pack, and when I need to recharge I simply snake the Apple cable out and plug it in, and/or I can put my iPhone in the fanny pack to charge. I seem to get somewhere between 1 and 2 charges for my iPhone 4S.

Easy to charge the iPhone4 once you figure it out. The nomad 7 definately needs the battery pack to charge an iPhone. Takes about 2-3 hours of full sun to recharge a fully depleted battery pack off the nomad 7. I work on-line and plan to use this rig + my phone to work a bit from huts in the Alps this summer - pays for the trip. Thanks Goal Zero.

I don't have to plug into an electrical outlet to charge my iPad or iPhone. I can let the sun charge those things for me and it's free. That's only the tip of the iceberg.

I've used the Guide 10 on two, extended fly-out float trips in the Alaskan wilderness this summer for a total of 26 days and have been very impressed with the performance. I've also used it on numerous, short backpacking trips around Colorado. I've had to rely on a GPS and taken 1000's of pictures. It's nice to not have to worry about using up your camera and GPS batteries- I just keep the pack charged during the day and recharge everything at night. I've also been able to keep my iPod and the rock out speaker charged for tunes around camp every night as well as my headlamp and flashlight. I recommend purchasing and extra set of batteries kept charged up for periods of cloudy days because the charging time is slower but even in low light conditions the solar panel will charge the pack quite well. A lot of bang for the buck and size of this kit. Don't hesitate. The LED light is awesome and puts out as much, if not more, light than a lantern around the camp No more need to pack a ton of extra disposable batteries for long trips.
