I love this little guy

This is an all around great product. The Guide 10 is basically perfect for every day, every where, any time. I loved that the little LED light was always juiced even when the batteries were too dead to charge my iPhone. I used the pack to charge my cellphone and also used it to charge AA's and AAA's for my headlamp and bike lights on a104 day, 4,700 mile cycling tour across the USA. Just an all around great product that I'd HIGHLY recommend.

Lightweight power option!

This is my second Goal Zero product. I needed something more compact then my Sherpa 50 for daily use. The next option down was either the Guide 10 Plus or the Switch 8. I liked the versatility of the AA batteries and the bump in stored power so I went with the Guide 10. It proved useful for every day items and low powered items. I know it says that it is smartphone compatible but in my experience, neither of mine would continue to charge for more then a few seconds.
Its also nice that it came with AAA battery inserts, as well as a bright led that doubles it as a flashlight.
Overall, if you just need juice for e-readers, headlamps, or other small electronics I highly recommend it.

Great for batteries bad for phones

I like this product but I'm a little disappointed. The fact that you can charge batteries from solar power in the field is really really awesome. That alone make this product worth it. However it barley charged smart phones. When ever I plug in my phone is says "slow charge please connect to your original charger". Goal Zero was even nice enough to send me a little adapter, free of charge, to correct the issue. Still didn't give a normal charge. So make of that what you will. I hope Goal Zero revamps this product to fit better in the world of Smart phones. But if you use a lot of batteries in the filed you really should own this product. I wish I could give 3 1/2 stars

One month off grid in the Himalayas

I don't understand the comments stating that the guide 10 plus will not charge an iPhone 4S. I charged the guide 10 plus during the day while trekking in the Himalayas - typically charged in only 2-3 hours. At night I would plug my completely dead iPhone 4S into the guide 10 plus and in the morning (like magic) it would be 100% charged! I found that even after charging my dead iPhone there was power left to charge another device - members of my team were constantly asking to me to charge their ipods and such. Great product, just the right size for backpacking. I also use it to charge AAA batteries for my headlamp. In good sun, can charge several sets of batteries in a day.

Iphone 5S won't recharge at all.

A glorified heavy flashlight. I trusted GoalZero's claims that it would recharge "smartphones" when I purchased the unit last winter. But spring came and I went camping with the guide 10 in my electronics pack and discovered zero recharging. Nothing. The millivolts even matched-up. The iphone 5s is a 5 watt device. No charge, iphone recognizes recharging, but the smartphone does not gain power when hooked-up, very disappointing. Buy ROMOSS batteries, half the cost and reliable. I'm going to leave my Guide 10 Plus Recharger at home in the cabinet next to the candles. The candles being more reliable.

We have to use the average when quoting charge times on our tech specs. Some newer phones use so much power that the Guide 10 will give them a power boost but not charge it fully and some phones will get two charges out of the Guide 10 really depends on the power hungry device you are using.

Also, if you let the batteries sit for so long in between use the batteries could have become unhealthy. You need to charge up the guide 10 or use it every 3-6 months to keep it all running at peak performance.

My most used GoalZero Product

I own several pieces of GoalZero gear, by far the Guide 10 is my most used piece. It is so convenient to charge, either via the Nomad 7 panel, or via usb from either laptop or wall charger. This device is perfect for giving my tablet or phone the boost it needs when I forget to keep it charged, yet want to use it. I really like the fact that I can also charge other non Goal Zero batteries with this charger; that really helps to store up some juice when the sun is shining. Just this weekend I used the Guide 10 and Rockout with my Android phone for a little bit of music time in the hammock while camping. Would I buy it again? Yes, and I might. Would I give it as a gift, yes, and I will.

I was so hoping this would charge my Iphone4s. Does not work at all. It charges batteries ok, but will not even register on my Iphone4s.
