This bi-directional device not only charges AA or AAA cells, but provides a 5V USB from the batteries to charge USB devices like phones, speakers, ipods or GPS units. With a built in white flashlight LED and informative green/red charge status LED, it stands alone as a multi function energy storage device for your other gear, or just as a charger.

I mostly use the Guide 10 to power my electronics on flights. Shorter flights I can use the NmH batteries. But for long transcontinental and international I insert Everyready Lithium batteries. They CAN'T be recharged but they are lighter and have a larger maH capacity. I still bring the NmH in my luggage for use when i arrive at my destination.

This power pack seems to work as described. Paired with the Nomad 7 solar panels, they charge up fast and can be used to recharge an iPhone5 in short order. I also use it to power my GPS unit and other electronic devices. My only complaint is that Goal Zero should provide the rechargeable AAA batteries for this as well, so you don't have to order those seperately.

Delivery was great! It was just a few days until I received the items I ordered. These were gifts for my 4 children and their spouses as Christmas presents. I normally give them something that they can use in their preparedness supplies. They all received them with great enthusiasm and actually had already seen the Guide 10 and thought it was great. They were pleased to have these to use.

I bought the switch 8 and this product at the same time. I'm sure goal zero isn't happy with my review for the switch 8. They're the same price but I'd rather have or buy this for someone all day every day. The only thing I haven't been able to charge is my Acer a100 witch has a special port. IPhones, Samsung, even my Casio commando (outdoors men smart phone) that has a special charger charges. The 1 led flashlight is very bright. And when your batteries go dead you can use any brand of aa or AAA batteries. This is a survivalist, backpacker, outdoors men dream. Must have for ttye price.

Couldn't get much better! The designers really thought about this product before making it. It is convenient/easy to use, powerful, and the little light on the bottom was a great addition to really round up this excellent power pack. I would buy this again and it is worth every penny. With the Luna LED usb light, it works as a great reading/work light and I use it outside all the time and it gives plenty of illumination and power to charge all my small to medium devices.
