So noisy after 2 years
on October 6, 2023

We LOVED our Breville in the first two years. It now it has such a noisy fan it is almost unusable. This was an expensive piece of equipment and expected more for the price we paid.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love it! But sadly not designed for routine use
on December 3, 2023

We bought this unit 2y ago and use it almost everyday - absolutely love the versatility as it has SO MANY features! It gets a high rating in consumer reviews for a reason!
However we found with daily use over time, some major design flaws… mainly around the door closure seal (or almost complete lack of). When you use the unit for heating food with any amount of moisture, or if food oils star smoking (quite frequent when air frying), the lack of door seal becomes immediately apparent with steam/smoke escaping all around the top and right side. The right side air gap is particularly problematic as this is right where the electrical control panel w/LCD screen sits. We modified this seal to expand it to close the gap at least in the right side to protect the electronics inside. However, even with closing this gap, we just seem to have delayed the inevitable with this bad design - repeated exposure to steam has rendered the function selector control knob almost completely useless.
Understood that the steam/smoke does need to vent, however this current design vents it only thru the door right against the electronics causing them to fail.
There are high end countertop units on the market with much better designed door seals, one of them has a woven fiberglass seal like a standard range - that would be massively useful in this unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thank you for your review and feedback. Depending on the moisture content of the food you're air frying, there will be steam emitted from the door. The vents in the door are for just that purpose. The steam will get on the display panel. You'll see this noted in the user's manual, including under the Trouble Shooting section.
Steam is coming out from the oven door • This is normal. The door is vented to release steam created from high moisture content foods such as frozen breads.
Water is dripping onto counter from under door • This is normal. The condensation created from high moisture content foods such as frozen breads will run down the inside of the door and can drip onto the counter.
Since condensation builds up, if you are air frying fatty foods, grease can definitely be emitted along with the condensation. That's why we do suggest in the manual that when cooking fatty foods (e.g. chicken wings) use roasting pan instead of air fry/dehydrate basket to prevent the oil dripping. Discard excess oil in between the batches.
But we do value customers' input. We'll definitely pass along your feedback to the appropriate people, as we are continuously trying to improve our customer's experience.

Oven stopped working after less than a year
on March 15, 2024

I bought this oven last summer but it now no longer is able to toast and does not seem to heat up to the desired temperature. When we initially bought it we loved it - it has a lot of great features. Now it gets warm but does not reach a hot temperature. I looked up how to repair it but it does not seem repairable. Very disappointed, as I bought this to replace a toaster oven and air fryer and now it does neither.

Great oven but no recipe book or suggested uses

Very surprised this brand did not include a recipe book or suggested recipes for each of the functions. At this point I have just been frustrated as I don't know what temperatures to use for the different functions.

We love our Smart Oven Air!
on September 10, 2020

Over the years we have tried many ovens, electric, gas, etc. The Smart Oven Air is a KEEPER! We use it every single day, from making toast, bagels, crispy pizza with convection, air fried chicken tenders, proofing dough, you name it! The variety of heat, convection, and timing options will allow for anything we want to prepare. Honestly, we cannot think of anything that would make this device better, it is absolutely perfect for us! Love the blue/orange LCD display, with big easy to read numbers and setting descriptors, makes it so easy to see what's going on, how much time left, and the light turns on 10 seconds before it's done cooking, along with the beeping so you don't burn your latest creation. Good job Breville! We love the brushed stainless steel and durable construction.

This is an essential appliance

This is my second Breville oven. I loved my last one, buy when this larger one came out I had to have it. I have had it for a couple years now. This counter oven is the most important appliance I own. I use it every day. It is awesome for fries. It is also great to bake muffins and breads. The super convection makes the best frozen pizza and super fluffy biscuits. I frequently use the warm feature for dinner when I am making several different things. I basically stopped using my crock pot, since I can brown stuff in a pot on the stove then I put the pot right from the stovetop into this oven to slow cook. This is so helpful for big meals like at thanksgiving. I cook whole chickens and roast potatoes in this all of the time too. I almost never use my regular oven. I proof bread at 85 degrees, so helpful on chilly days. The temperature is very accurate. The only thing to complain about is that the toast feature takes longer than other machines because it is so big it takes a while to heat up enough to toast. If it is cold, it takes about 5-6 minutes. It does make perfect toast though, even when you are making 8 pieces at a time, they are all perfectly brown. I would never be without this oven, if it breaks out of warrantee, I will buy another the next day. I use a 10x15 size baking sheet, that is the biggest that fits(try the NordicWare Jelly roll pan- it fits perfect.) It takes a little while to get used to convection, but it is definitely worth adjusting your recipes for things like biscuits and pizza. I have to stop, but I could go on.

Cooks Well, Display and Dials Stop Working after a Year

This would be great...if I could select which cooking mode! Used to love this toaster oven air fryer. Unfortunately, the dial doesn't work. You turn it and it won't change the cooking mode, or it will go backwards.

Ana, We are very sorry to hear about the difficulty you're having with your oven. Could you please send us an email to askus@brevilleusa.com? We'd like to start a case with you and assist however we can to get that oven working perfectly for you again
Unfortunately it does a terrible job toasting bread, etc... takes a very long time and usually have to run it more than one cycle, on the highest toasting setting. 10 minutes to wait did an English muffin is ridiculous. I do like the air fryer feature.
