Worst appliance ever

The Smart Oven Pro is seriously flawed. I did air fryer Brussel sprouts today and recipe says 8-10 minutes at 400. It took 25 minutes and they still weren’t crispy or even done. I have found this to be true with almost all the functions.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this oven after using one at a friend's house and loving it. it's a beautiful and functional design. The controls are intuitive and very simple to use. The options to bake, warm, air fry, toast, slow cook make this an amazingly versatile tool. I haven't turned on the regular over since this arrived. I wish I'd bought one years ago!

Did not work out of the box

I purchased the oven on line, too old and sick to go to the store. Now I have the oven hooked up and the light on the controls turns on and I hit the Pizza button and the oven never heated up. I had 3 people in my family look at it to make sure I did not make a stupid mistake in setting it up.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Love it! But sadly not designed for routine use

We bought this unit 2y ago and use it almost everyday - absolutely love the versatility as it has SO MANY features! It gets a high rating in consumer reviews for a reason!
However we found with daily use over time, some major design flaws… mainly around the door closure seal (or almost complete lack of). When you use the unit for heating food with any amount of moisture, or if food oils star smoking (quite frequent when air frying), the lack of door seal becomes immediately apparent with steam/smoke escaping all around the top and right side. The right side air gap is particularly problematic as this is right where the electrical control panel w/LCD screen sits. We modified this seal to expand it to close the gap at least in the right side to protect the electronics inside. However, even with closing this gap, we just seem to have delayed the inevitable with this bad design - repeated exposure to steam has rendered the function selector control knob almost completely useless.
Understood that the steam/smoke does need to vent, however this current design vents it only thru the door right against the electronics causing them to fail.
There are high end countertop units on the market with much better designed door seals, one of them has a woven fiberglass seal like a standard range - that would be massively useful in this unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thank you for your review and feedback. Depending on the moisture content of the food you're air frying, there will be steam emitted from the door. The vents in the door are for just that purpose. The steam will get on the display panel. You'll see this noted in the user's manual, including under the Trouble Shooting section.
Steam is coming out from the oven door • This is normal. The door is vented to release steam created from high moisture content foods such as frozen breads.
Water is dripping onto counter from under door • This is normal. The condensation created from high moisture content foods such as frozen breads will run down the inside of the door and can drip onto the counter.
Since condensation builds up, if you are air frying fatty foods, grease can definitely be emitted along with the condensation. That's why we do suggest in the manual that when cooking fatty foods (e.g. chicken wings) use roasting pan instead of air fry/dehydrate basket to prevent the oil dripping. Discard excess oil in between the batches.
But we do value customers' input. We'll definitely pass along your feedback to the appropriate people, as we are continuously trying to improve our customer's experience.

Great oven but lacks instructions on how to use and recipes!!

I would give this oven a higher rating, but the there are no instructions on how to use all those settings or recipes for all the settings. Never purchased a product with such limited information on how to use. It would help to have recipes and maybe a video showing how to use the various settings. What's up with the lack of information?

Potentially great unit, needs detailed explanations of functions

I purchased the BOV900 to replace a perfectly working BOV800XL. The 900 has a feature high in demand- Air Fry, It also has a proofing setting I am anxious to try out. I would have given the unit a 5, but the mysteries surrounding exactly what the functions do is a big deal to me. There is absolutely no mention of what frozen does in the manual, On Air Fry, removing frozen (it is on by default) added 5 minutes to the time. That is counter intuitive, being frozen should add to the cooking time I would think. On cookies, pressing frozen added 2 minutes and reduced the temp by 25°f. That was expected. I performed a factory reset before testing this to be sure I had not altered a setting. I also want to know why. for example, cookies is separate from bake. It is not the same process?
Something brought up 2 years ago is Beville does not have a cookbook to give users ideas and suggestions in how to use (or not use) this unit. Still no cookbook. The web page recipes are a joke, not even a drop in a bucket of what SHOULD be there. Shame on Breville for not doing something relatively simply for their customers. The manual is sort of a joke. It give the function and a terse paragraph on where to use the function. It then goes into great details what to expect when you use the function. Pretty much the same steps for each function, with maybe a slight deviance from the other ones, but nothing worth noting. Each one has a step to "close the oven door". For real. The manual was written for someone who has never baked before. The rest of us would like details on what happens internally in the oven so we can adapt recipes for how this oven operates to get the most out of it, without having to experiment.

I bought mine 2 years ago. And loved it. Phased cooking is great. But, right at that 2 year mark the timer is now not working properly.

Pleasantly surprised

For a two-person household this is an oven replacer for day-to-day cooking; for larger families or for bigger occasions, it would be a very handy extra oven. So far I've baked hearth-style bread, cookies, popovers; I've roasted and air-fried vegetables; I've made pizzas - all with great results. My absolute favorite is roasting whole chickens! The skin comes out crispy and the delicious herb butter that spatters all over the place is very easy to clean up, unlike in my range. The bottom (crumb drawer) pops right out, the racks fit easily in the dishwasher, and the interior, even the glass of the door, easily wipes clean in a couple minutes.
Living in a hot climate, the fast preheating and efficient cooking makes a big difference for keeping the house cooler. We have a small galley kitchen and limited counter space, but this oven is counter-worthy! I have been really pleasantly surprised.
