Air fry edition with proof and dehydrate functions

Excellent. Keep far away from children as the outside gets extremely hot quickly. I do mean quickly. Get the cutting board for the top to protect yourself plus it’s handy to set plates and trays on. ❤️.
So easy. So smart. So nice. Read the directions.
I own the Breville all metal juicer $199.00 ❤️ and the Breville food processor ❤️. Wow. Dream products. I have yet to use the dehydrator function as I need more air fry trays and they are out of stock. This week I’m going to try the proof function. My husband is loving the air fried veggies. I watched Nutmeg Notebook on YouTube and they suggest a liner (has smaller holes) for the air fry tray and it was GREAT advice. I’m in love.
The foot print is fairly large as you need to leave room for the oven door to be supported by the table when opened. Don’t set anything on the open door. I’m so glad I didn’t try to save a few dollars and get the less functional one. I’m grateful to own this oven.
Thank you, Breville.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nice oven with need to improve
on May 7, 2020

All oven function works great and easy to use.
However need to insulate outer surface especially top surface as it gets burning hot.
Compare to older model newer smart oven model causes water droplet build up and steaming at the upper door corner on display panel side. This happens every time even when we toast bread which is a short time. As our oven is under kitchen cabinet, steam effects the cabinet wood and fades cabinet stain. Must address and improve this problem. I am also wondering whether water build up will eventually cause metal rusting.

Love The Oven But!

Cleaning this oven as stated does not work. I clean my oven after each use but it is impossible to get the oven and the rods cleaned. I have a Cadco Oven with removable parts that is a dream to clean. Wouldn't mind spending more money if you can enhance this oven for easier cleaning. Also, the light! If possible, a feature to keep the light on while cleaning and shut if off when done. I will still use my oven, but wish the oven had features to make cleaning it easier. Or, a special cleaner to clean the inside.

More than I expected !
on October 18, 2017

I have owned and operated 5 major size restaurants in Southern California, smallest 305 seats, , Without a doubt the Smart Oven Air does more than I expected. I have bought two now and will buy two more for my boat. So compact, and offers so much more than any other single countertop appliance., I have given away my toaster, deep fryer, old toaster oven, and a few other counter top junk. The air fryer is truly better on food than a deep fryer, and so much better on your stomach and waistline. What they say about 30% quicker cooking time is very true, and I keep forgetting and over cook at times. I looked for months before buying and it was other owners of the Smart Air that convinced to buy. Thank you all. You have brought more joy to my kitchen, my love of cooking.

Love it! But sadly not designed for routine use
on December 3, 2023

We bought this unit 2y ago and use it almost everyday - absolutely love the versatility as it has SO MANY features! It gets a high rating in consumer reviews for a reason!
However we found with daily use over time, some major design flaws… mainly around the door closure seal (or almost complete lack of). When you use the unit for heating food with any amount of moisture, or if food oils star smoking (quite frequent when air frying), the lack of door seal becomes immediately apparent with steam/smoke escaping all around the top and right side. The right side air gap is particularly problematic as this is right where the electrical control panel w/LCD screen sits. We modified this seal to expand it to close the gap at least in the right side to protect the electronics inside. However, even with closing this gap, we just seem to have delayed the inevitable with this bad design - repeated exposure to steam has rendered the function selector control knob almost completely useless.
Understood that the steam/smoke does need to vent, however this current design vents it only thru the door right against the electronics causing them to fail.
There are high end countertop units on the market with much better designed door seals, one of them has a woven fiberglass seal like a standard range - that would be massively useful in this unit.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thank you for your review and feedback. Depending on the moisture content of the food you're air frying, there will be steam emitted from the door. The vents in the door are for just that purpose. The steam will get on the display panel. You'll see this noted in the user's manual, including under the Trouble Shooting section.

Steam is coming out from the oven door
• This is normal. The door is vented to release steam created from high moisture content foods such as frozen breads.

Water is dripping onto counter from under door
• This is normal. The condensation created from high moisture content foods such as frozen breads will run down the inside of the door and can drip onto the counter.

Since condensation builds up, if you are air frying fatty foods, grease can definitely be emitted along with the condensation. That's why we do suggest in the manual that when cooking fatty foods (e.g. chicken wings) use roasting pan instead of air fry/dehydrate basket to prevent the oil dripping. Discard excess oil in between the batches.

But we do value customers' input. We'll definitely pass along your feedback to the appropriate people, as we are continuously trying to improve our customer's experience.

Confused
on June 21, 2017

I love everything about the Smart Oven Air however I am baffled about one thing...When I set the timer and it goes off when the time is up and I check my food but I feel I need to cook it a little bit longer so I close the door and press start and the preheating stars all over again and preheats as long as the original preheating time....I only had the door open for less than a minute so it doesn't seem the oven woukd cool off to the extent that it needs to preheat that long again! Is that a design flaw?

Works Well - Please Answer Some Questions
on April 20, 2019
Posted by: Mom J.
I purchased my Breville Smart Air oven about a year ago. My family loves it - very convenient when I do not want to heat up the large oven. It is designed well and easy to use. I am aware there are 6 heating elements inside the oven, 4 on the top and 2 on the bottom. My question is this, which elements are "on" during each of the preset functions? And to what degree? For example, for the "bake" function, which of the 6 heating elements are operating? And are they on "high" heat, medium or low? Are there any preset functions that just use the top or bottom heating elements? Thank you for any response.
