Learning curve for air fry feature
on October 18, 2021

Seems there’s a bit of a learning curve in using the air fry feature. It doesn’t perform like the typical bucket type fryers. I wish there were more intuitive information and directions regarding that feature.

Steam escapes during cooking
on November 16, 2021
Posted by: Erika
I just bought this air fryer and I am deeply disappointed about the escaping steam during cooking process! :( Steam covers the display panel, and water drops rolling down on the front surface of the oven.
Doesn’t seem normal and acceptable for me. I thought Breville knows better:(. I have another kitchen supplies from them and I love those.

Thank you for reaching out to Breville. I can confirm for you that depending on the moisture content of the food you're air frying, there will be steam emitted from the door. The vents in the door are for just that purpose. The steam will get on the display panel. You'll see this noted in the user's manual, including under the Trouble Shooting section.

Steam is coming out from the oven door
• This is normal. The door is vented to release steam created from high moisture content foods such as frozen breads.

Water is dripping onto counter from under door
• This is normal. The condensation created from high moisture content foods such as frozen breads will run down the inside of the door and can drip onto the counter.

Since condensation builds up, if you are air frying fatty foods, grease can definitely be emitted along with the condensation. That's why we do suggest in the manual that when cooking fatty foods (e.g. chicken wings) use roasting pan instead of air fry/dehydrate basket to prevent the oil dripping. Discard excess oil in between the batches.

I was so excited to have this little oven .
But now I am so upset to write this review about how to handle the problem with their product .
First time use it. Toast a couple of bread or bagel I saw the steam leaking from bottom of right side little bit . And the steam leaks more and more from top right side. It create condensation on the panel of LED. It create moisture and dripping water on my counter top. I naver saw any oven leaking steam even cheap toast oven .
I contact and address the problem and I gat answer that is normal.
I know one od my community website person used one year and she has same problem and she got answer that they know some door has issue and she got exchanged.
I don’t know what to do now.

My second Brevelle Smart Oven. First oven is now five years old and still going strong without ever having a fault.. The new Smart Oven Air Fryer appeared to be my original oven plus much more. After purchase and use, I am more than satisfied. The oven has lived up to all my expectations and I am looking forward to many years of cooking with my second Brevelle long lived appliance

great oven....some thoughts for improvements

It is a great toaster oven and I have loved it so far. Some thoughts about improvemets:
1. add some type of "grabber" to remove the pizza pan as it is very difficult to get out with just a hotpad. It's hard to get the pan over the "lip" of the rack when removing.
2. Include some type of cookbook with ideas of using the airfryer section.

Loved it till the planned obsolescence!
on February 12, 2022

I’ve had this about to the two year mark. It never wowed me with the air fryer function, but I wanted to have a bigger model to upgrade my original toaster oven that I loved. The air fryer drippings need to go somewhere, so you sort of have to put a pan in the bottom, and it’s going to generate steam that wants to leak out. It’s a trade off for the added flexibility I guess. Heating up frozen chicken nuggets for the little one works great. And it works as a good sized larger toaster oven. You can fine tune your settings to toast things, you just have to find your sweet spot. The added size is handy. But the whole spray foods lightly with oil to air fry them could be a smidge better. I’m not sure how to change that part of the design, so I just accept that part and it’s just me being critical.
Here’s the bad: I recently had the door latch issue where the screw actually pulled out and stripped all the threads. This did that issue where the door wouldn’t close because the latch inside the left wall wasn’t in the guide as referenced in other reviews. I was able to fix it by replacing the screw with a rivet, but the nylon bushing thingie will likely break soon. Then I’ll have to do two washers and a bushing, or call it quits. They’re screwed together really well, so taking it apart is a pain in the butt. I wish the latch retaining assembly didn’t have crappy parts, because that will disable the whole thing.
I also just started having the timer countdown issue where it just runs and doesn’t countdown.
So I got some great use out of it until the “planned obsolescence” at about the end of the warranty period. It doesn’t make it right, but I get why businesses do it. Buy it on Black Friday, then all this doesn’t hurt so badly. I’ll probably opt for something different next time, but who knows, maybe breville will cut the crap.

This and a hot plate is all I need.

My Breville Smart Oven® Air Fryer Pro is so smart, it has 480 Degrees (rim shot).
Now I can dehydrate my mushrooms at a lower temperature and in less time than using the big oven. It can roast a 14 lb turkey, so I guess 14 lbs of tofu shouldn't be a challenge. I have become a wet cook. Boiling water in a kettle or in a pressure cooker doesn’t require much, and this combo is perfect.
