Unfortunately it does a terrible job toasting bread, etc... takes a very long time and usually have to run it more than one cycle, on the highest toasting setting. 10 minutes to wait did an English muffin is ridiculous. I do like the air fryer feature.
For years we've been using our full size wall ovens, cook top and a microwave for our cooking not realizing how much cooking technology has changed over the last few years. We recently purchased the Smart Oven Air to reduce our reliance on the wall ovens and microwave, and so far, its exceeded our expectations. We like the pre-programmed settings for cooking pizza and a variety of other foods with the oven size as just right for cooking a 13 inch pizza. We really like the Air-Fry feature for cooking frozen french fries which are cooked nice and crispy with no sogginess. Reduced cook time has also been a big benefit when compared to the wall ovens and the Smart Oven is easy to clean. Finally, there's no comparison between microwave cooking and the Smart Air in terms of cook quality. With few exceptions our Smart Oven Air is becoming our go to everyday oven.
I love this oven, it has almost replaced my very high end oven. I have had issues with it not working properly after a year or so, but Breville has been very good at replacing it.
Researched heavily. This is the largest, most solid oven I found. Much larger interior than the Ninja or the Cuisinart. Tho the Cuisinart is rated higher in most surveys, it will not take a 13 inch round baking sheet, nor a 9 X 13 baking dish, which the Brevill does. Tho the cost is higher, this is a rare purchase which should last for years. The dispersion of heat in this unit is very uniform resulting in even cooking and doneness. The Air Fry basket is large and allows much greate quantities than the other units. In short, it is worth the extra money.
I have had the Smart Oven Air for almost a year and a half. I absolutely love it. My first air fryer dish was onion rings. My wife said the purchase was totally justified.
I have a couple of wishes. Presently when the pre-heat reaches the desired temperature the cooking countdown timer begins. I am sometimes not right there to put the food in and have to manually re-set the timer. The oven should hold the pre-set temperature and start the timer when you press the start button.
I would also like to see a temperature display when pre-heating so I know about how long I have to be ready to put the food in.
