I have been contemplating this oven purchase for a long time. It is not a purchase I made in the absence of considering its cost. In the running were the Joule and the Air Fryer Pro. We chose the latter believing it would meet our needs. Felt we were not in need of as much "cooking assistance" as the Joule offers. We love this oven! It functions perfectly and delivers an admiral job with the normal requirements of cooking and excels in the more exacting temperature maintenance required for confection/bread baking in which more exacting temperature maintenance turns out the best product. A less expensive oven can be purchased but this product is a joy and this budget-conscious woman does not regret the splurge.

Haven't had a chance to use all of the options yet, but the ones I have used make it easy to create a meal. Disappointed in the fact that after spending all of that money on the oven, it didn't come with even a little 'how to' book with some recipes for all of the options.
We've been a Breville household for almost 20 years. When we started talking about air fryers the initial idea of the Air Fryer Pro was easy. The only complication was that our Breville 800XL was only 7 years old and working just fine ... but the added features and larger capacity finally won us over, and are we glad it did!
1) The larger capacity means we can make cobblers in our 9X13 glass bake dishes instead of being limited to the 9X9 ... Whoopie! 2) The Air Fryer is OUTSTANDING! Battered Shrimp, Chicken Legs, Fries ... they are all beyond description, and crispy without the oils or calories. 3) You can actually bake cookies on multiple levels at the same time with even heat and great "big oven" results.
We've only begun to explore the possibilities of the model 900. So now the only decision is, which lucky relative gets to have our model 800 on their kitchen counter.
I have had it for about a month & we all love it. Although I bought it to replace our traditional aging air fryer (it was too small), it essentially replaced 2 additional appliances - out toaster & our oven. I hated the oven - the simplest task took at lease 20 mins with a lost of wastage of power. The Breville, can do the job is half the time or less from the fact it heats up in 2-3 mins (compare that to 10 mins in an oven) & cooks dishes in 3-15 mins (compare that to 5 -30 mins).
Of course, the air fryer component works great too, which was the primary reason we bought this unit & we use that less than I thought we would because of all the other settings like toast, pizza, etc.! So I would wholeheartedly recommend this.
I do have some gripes & not all of them have to do with the appliance itself. The hardest part for me is translating recipes written for conventional air fryer into those that will work for the Breville. There is a lot of trial & error involved. Although Breville has put out recipes, we need more of them & also some suggestions in translating recipes meant for traditional air fryer & conventional oven.
