It is just plug and play. I love the zoom in and different camera viewing features,and the price was right!

EASY TO INSTALL

I am so glad I bought this system. It is very easy to install and the picture quality is sharp and colorfully displayed on the screen. I had minor networking issues but they were resolved quickly through the help desk. The lady in the chat room knew very well about the system. Great system and awesome support..!!

Pros: very easy installation very easy to use
Cons: wish I would have known that longer wire connectors would be required and they are no longer available from the company probably better suited for smaller properties.

Easy to Install, good value for the price

I purchased this a few weeks ago, and installed it in a large barn to watch the animals with. The barn is metal so the wireless cameras wouldn't reach to the house. I had to install the DVR in a room in the barn to get the cameras to connect to it. This created another problem, how to get an internet connection from the house to the DVR. I ended up setting up a wireless internet bridge between the barn and house using two Ubiquiti NanoStations. I can connect to the DVR through the internet fine. The only issue so far is two of the wireless receivers connected to the DVR have had to be reset multiple times, they just loose the camera connections and the only way to get the connection back is to unplug the power and reset them.

I received my system 2 days ago and am happy to say that I now have all 4 cameras working and have set up the wireless access to the DVR from my PC and from my tablet. I'm not a techie and after doing a little research, found the information in the CD instructions, the SW downloads (NetViewer 2.0) and the Android app ASee. The information to set up and use the system is all there and I can't wait to mount the cameras in their final locations and implement more of the capabilities to allow me to watch my home while on vacation and when I am back home. The wireless feature is great and the hardware all went together with ease and I find the menu on the DVR easy to use, especially with the mouse. There are so many menu capabilities to choose from that I am anxious to set up the system to utilize email, search and some of the other features to provide more security for my property and my pets.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pretty good product

Pros: lots of flexible options for recording and playback;
Cons: setup instructions leave a lot to be desired; fortunately the CD has the full manual, but it would have been better had they just given you a copy of the full manual. Live viewing via my older iPhone (iPhone 4) has a lot of lag.

Wireless Surveillance System

I purchased my unit from the Defender website and really like the system. It was easy to install and the picture quality is great. My system is wireless, however the cameras require a power source and there are wires associated with them. The wires are not bulky and were easy to hide. The setup was a bit challenging for me (I am not computer savvy at all), but Defender provides very detailed videos on their website and/or technical support. Overall, I got more than my money's worth.

Good unit to have.

First, I looked for a manual online prior to purchasing. Found it online. Looked very simple to use so went ahead and purchased the 4 camera unit. Had some difficulty getting cameras synced. Not quite a simple as one may think. Once they were synced, I placed them throughout the house to check for function. Found that once they are synced, they reconnect quickly. This is great as we have some power outages occasionally. Main unit is on a UPS battery backup system. Once this was accomplished, I started going through the setups and online access. The ClearVu function is excellent as you do not have to go through the 'port forwarding' on your home network. Setup and different configurations seem to be well planned. Overall, the system seem to function as expected, but the distance quoted of "750 ft." is misleading, but the 200' is more real but hoping the 50' for one of my cameras does not sail.
I would recommend this to a friend!
