Yeti Tries

I purchased my Yeti for emergency use around the home if I lost power. I also take it on camping trips, not backpacking, and use it for charging phones and iPads. Worked fine until last summer when the usb ports stopped working. I worked with tech support who gave me suggestions but eventually no solution. My advice, be sure to have your ac adapter with you and do not depend on the usb ports.

Additional Information for CPAP Users

I finally had an opportunity to test my GZ LI400 two weekends ago on a yurt trip with my wife. I am running a Resmed Airsense 10. When camping, I always run my CPAP with my hose heat set to "off" and my humidity set to "off". Additionally, I purchased the DC-to-DC converter that Resmed puts out for the Airsense 10. Finally, I run my CPAP with a ramp and pressure setting of "4" while my machine has a max pressure setting of "12" (I typically average somewhere between 10 and 11).
After the first night, I was shocked to see that I had only consumed 14% of my capacity. My GZ was still reading 86%!! After the second night, I woke up to an astonishing 71% capacity. So after two full nights of rest (>= 8 hrs each), I still had roughtly 70% capacity left on my GZ. My mind was blown. This is the solution I have been looking for.

Failed on our wedding day!
on November 6, 2019

I USED to be a big supporter of all Goal Zero products and own and use many of them often. We loved our Yeti 400 and used it regularly and took care of it so when we needed some power for our remote mountain wedding I knew the Yeti would be perfect. I had it charged up and tested it the night before and worked fine. The day of the wedding I brought the Yeti and an extra solar panel to recharge it just in case and it COMPLETELY FAILED! The whole thing fried overnight somehow and is now useless. It gave us the ACI! warning light which means "Inverter Fail." It wouldn't work at all and after every tech savvy member of my family trying to get it to power ANYTHING we ended up running to get a marine battery with an inverter which worked perfectly. All in all, the unreliability of this postponed our wedding almost an hour and my lesson learned is that a marine battery with a cheap inverter is much more reliable and a lot less expensive.

Great for as long as it lasted....

I have had the unit for about three weeks. It's lightweight and I used it to charge my phone, iPad, laptop computer, as well as a mobile router while on the road. It only took three weeks for the device to malfunction, and now I have had to reach out to Goal Zero for warranty assistance. I'm pretty disappointed that such an expensive device would die in less than a month. Not holding out much hope that a replacement, assuming I get one, will be much better, but I will see. I should also note it took weeks to get the device, and now I'm sure even if I get a replacement, it will take many weeks more, and I purposely got it for a camping trip I'm going on in less than 2 weeks, so I'm going to probably be without the Yeti for the trip.

Lithum 400 would not power 100 watt ice maker
on June 7, 2019

Bought this today to power an 100 watt ice maker while camping. Overload triggers every time when the compressor starts. According to my watt meter attached during normal operation using the wall AC, max surge watts were found to go just over 600 watts. Lithium 400 is supposed to capable of 1200 surge watts. This does not seem to be true. . Bottom line: Do not count on this powering a compressor that uses more than 100W nominal. Given that the surge watts is exaggerated, its way more expensive than others with the same working wattage.

I am experiencing a little buyers remorse. Very expensive for what it actually does. I think for the 600 spent it should do a little more. As far as powering a mini fridge like it says, it needs to be a Real mini. I have a 5.5 cubic ft fridge I thought it would power, it does not. But, it will power a 14" fan on high and a air head high output inflator at the same time. And it will power my NOCO battery charger as well. I bought it to do those 3 things on my boat, but still having a hard time with the price tag.
