An ideal balance between power and portability.

As a landscape photographer I needed something that could keep my equipment powered far away from the grid while still being light enough to be carried over long distances if needed.
I'd held off on buying the earlier lead-acid Yeti 400 due to the weight, but I had an immediate interest in the lithium model as it is nearly half the weight and offers slightly more amp-hours. My existing Boulder 30 panels hook right up to the Yeti for recharging during the day and the supplied AC charger can be used off my gasoline generator back at camp if needed.
The display is bright (when lit!) and provides an easy-to-read measure of what's going on and the controls are simple and simple to operate. The built-in 300W inverter is pure sine wave which gives me confidence that my cameras and drones will not be damaged during charging.
Because all inverters bring some inefficiency with them, and since most personal electronics are DC power devices, it's always better to use the 12V "cigarette lighter" for charging when possible. A few more amp-hours can be squeezed out of the battery this way - in my experience the 120V inverter carries about a 5-6amp draw while in use, even if nothing's plugged in.
Don't forget to turn off the AC outlets when done charging!
All told, this compact little unit brings enough power to fully recharge my drone batteries several times over, my DSLR batteries more than I'd ever need in a day, or keep my 4k video editing laptop going for 5-6 hours.
On a sunny day my roughly 150W solar setup (4x Boulder 30 and a Nomad 28) can just about recharge it fully, making it good in a "one day on, one day off" schedule. Additional solar panels would let me use it during the day while it charges as well.

I bought the 400 lithium with intent to use it for some small appliances while camping. Recently however, we had a power outage at home during a heat wave that lasted about 11 hours. I pulled the yeti out of the basement and used it to charge phones, run a fan, lights, and even briefly for powering our TV and video game system to keep my son busy. The lightweight made it easy to move around the house as needed. I additionally tried to power the fridge, but that pulled a little too much power, particularly after it had been sitting idle for several hours. The yeti was so useful, I've decided to purchase the 1400 lithium as well to give us more options for power outages and our outdoor events, particularly with being able to use more kitchen appliances. Highly recommended.

The Yeti 400 kit is great for camping or anywhere else that there is no power available.
The 400 has plenty of battery to charge phones and tablets, run small pumps to inflate beds or run camp showers. The included lights are bright and low draw so they will run forever. The 20 watt panel is fine if the weather is sunny and you are not using that much electricity, but if you are going to power a bunch of things you should consider adding the larger 30 watt or even the 90 watt panel.

I bought this about 7 months ago. I use it daily we charge all our phones, powerbanks. Tablets, lights and all my ryobi tool batteries. Came in real use when our power went out for 4 hours one hot summer night. We used it to power lights and a fan kept is comfortable. Goal Zero makes amazing products I'm a fan for life

This Power Station was a donation to our Veterans Organization from another distributor. But let me tell you that this litte power house did its job for us. It powered our small sound system for an hour and only using 20% of the charge. There was a Large Speaker and sound panel connected to it and even the soundman was impressed and will get one for himself.
I cannot wait to try it out on more things plugged in when it comes time for us to do our NYC Veterans Day Parade.
I also tested it on my 50" HDTV and lasted 4 1/2 hours and used 80% of the full charge. I am impressed, too!

We bought this unit several months ago. We use it to power our network, phones, and cable when we have power outages. Living in the mountains can mean periodic power loss after storms. It’s been a champ for us.

Only powers my small electronics.

I thought I could use my Keurig coffee maker or my toaster or my small space heater from this when the power goes out. In the middle of a storm now. It knocked out the power. But the Yeti can’t power anything but my iPhone and iPad. When I tried to make coffee, it shut off and displayed “overload”.
Why would I need a big, expensive power station for that?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have sleep apnea and my Yeti 400 has been a great backup power source for my CPAP on several occasions when storms took out our power in the middle of the night. Also I have used my Yeti 400 when we have had thunderstorms since I was afraid lightening might damage my expensive CPAP. I lost numerous appliances years ago when lightening struck my house and "fried" the appliances that had power from our local power company. Today my CPAP is so much safer in a thunderstorm when it is just being powered by my Yeti 400. I sleep better during storms because of Goal Zero.
