Great product, but . . .

Not our first GE appliance. However, a major quality control issue with the doors. Our niece purchased the same frig in Kansas City and it also has problems w/ the doors. The doors will not close properly because the upper tray doesn't fit. We are still awaiting a follow-up customer service appt to resolve the outstanding issue w/ this item.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I had to make a quick purchase since my old GE fridge died after 10+ years. I made my purchase based on reviews from other customers, so far I agree with the positive reviews. I like the inside space and the freezer as well. I wish it had a bigger icemaker and a little bit less noise.

So far, we're loving the new fridge. Our old one was a side by side -- this new configuration gives us a lot more opportuntity for storing half sheet baking pans in the fridge. Also, I appreciate that stuff won't be falling out of the freezer anytime soon. The ice compartment is rather small, we're considering whether an additional ice section in the freezer is needed. The ice/water dispenser is very big -- we can fit a pitcher in there easily, or waterbottles. One caveat -- with smaller glasses you have to hold the glass down low for water, or up high for ice if you want to avoid spills.

Wanted a side by side with the freezer on the bottom and ice/ water in the exterior door and a reputable brand name that had a reasonable price. I got this with G E.

My 2nd one in 3 years

I bought this exact model 3 years ago with the extended warranty (good thing) during covid the compressor failed, since parts are on delay the total cost was refunded to me. I reordered the same unit since the color matched our other appliances. The second unit arrived after a few weeks (covid delays - that's life) with a damaged ice dispenser. Have an open repair ticket now waiting on parts.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Great and very roomy fridge

Moved up from a 25 cu-ft and this one is definitely larger feeling and well laid out. Shelves are easily adjusted prior to loading up. The space saving ice maker has worked very well, while still allowing you to use the very narrow shelves for easily locating small bottled items. Very well lit inside and large door shelves. Can fit two half gallon milk containers back to back, so plenty of depth.
We move from a side by side and were hesitant to switch to a bottom freezer, however it has worked out well. We do miss having the ice maker based in the freezer such that you could just reach in and grab some. You would need to just periodically fill a container from the space saver and keep it in the freezer as it is not really feasible to access the stored ice in the door without significant effort.
The doors are very firm to close and seal well. Recommend turning on the door alarm though, in case you don't get them sealed all the way. We already had the water line run for the previous refrigerator, so do a self install was a breeze. We did have access via a sliding glass door. The instructions have directions on how to remove the doors in order to fit through a standard doorway though for that case, we'd recommend just having it installed.
Some reviews noted that it makes more noise. The instructions list out the various types of sounds that are possible and confirm that it generally is a higher pitched sound than older units. Can confirm that is the case and was noticeable the first couple weeks but after a month not so much.
Would recommend to anyone that has the space to fit it.
