So far this is a very good refrigerator, great features, easy to use, opted for 2 ice makers and the color is great (black slate)

Sounds like a refrigerated freight train 27/7.

This is the second GE refrigerator. 1st one compressor would not stop running and was so loud. Dealer came and got that one. Replaced with this one. Everyone that comes to visit is shocked at how loud it is when running. We have to keep radio or tv on so we dont go nuts. I was a GE customer for years never again. Yucky

Big and roomy

Had it 6 months, i read other reviews and the only complaints people were making was about the noise of the ice maker and that you had to buy an expensive GE filter. Over all I love it. It is true the ice maker is loud. The noise lasts about 2 seconds and it is a pretty loud sound of the ice dumping into the container. It is annoying when watching tv but it is not a big deal, i can't hear it in my bedroom. As far a using only GE filters. I requested for free filter bypass. I give it a 4 out of ten only because the noise of the ice rashing into it's container. Otherwise it makes no noise.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Front control panel dies only after one year

I am so frustrated about the quality of this refrigerator and the GE brand. Only had it for 1.5 year and now the front control panel completely died. The temperature no longer stays around the set point and now everything in the fridge freezes. Total disappointment.

Unreliable piece of expensive junk

We've had this fridge for two years, and in the past 3 months have had to call service twice because the freezer wouldn't stay frozen. The first time, the freezer fan was defective. The second time it was the thermistor. Both times I've had to take off work twice for each incident, once for them to diagnose the problem, and the other for them to replace the part. Why they don't carry typically failing parts with them to avoid this is beyond me. I’m appalled at how quickly their parts start to fail (within two years!!!) given how expensive this appliance is!

My refrigerator failed within one month of purchase. It failed again less than 24 hours after the repair. I lost food both times and have now been without a working refrigerator in the house for almost three weeks.

Ice Maker Troubles early

This appliance does a good job cooling and freezing, but only a few months later we have no ice. It started with water leaking at the point where the door meets the fridge and the water flows to the ice maker. We purchased the optional freezer ice maker and now it has stopped making ice as well. The water line works fine, so that’s not the issue. I’m calling GE tomorrow to get service.

PIECE OF JUNK

This refrigerator was a piece of junk!!!! I had it one whole day and it never cooled. I was smart enough to buy from a great dealer, not a box store, who checked it out, determined the problem was not fixable and replaced it the next day!!!!! New one seems to be working fine!!!! I will write a review on this one in a couple of days.
