Ice Maker Disappointing

I have had constant trouble with the ice maker breaking - I have had the repairman come 3 times in the past 5 years to fix the ice maker. For the amount of money the refrigerator is, I would expect superior quality from the GE Profile manufacturer. The refrigerator itself is fine, but just the inconvenience of having to take a day off for the repairman to come fix a relatively new appliance is aggravating.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've had this GE fridge for about a year now and our whole family loves it. It is roomy and stays cold and is so easy to clean and organize!

The appliance has performed well during the 7 months we've owned it. The only exception is the overhead light, which has gone out a few times, even with bulb replacement. We're having customer service out to take care of it. The freezer has a decent amount of storage but sometimes feels a little small the way it's laid out. The water and ice maker have performed well.

New Model Replacement

This new model replaces the same exact model of our 16 year old GE Profile. The new contemporary design is a great improvement. However, GE no longer designates on the face of the appliance an emblem or insignia of the GE Profile model. Our older GE appliances displayed the Profile model insignia distinguishing it from the basic GE model. For the additional pricing of the GE Profile model, it should be displayed on the face of the model ensuring the consumer that they have in fact received the Profile model. You must now look inside at the compartments, or find the model and serial number on the placard. After a comparison with our old model, I find the doors close way to easy causing them to slam. The interior walls and bins are rounded which results in loss storage capacity. The ice bin does not have a front door to access the ice for any reason. All of these items are minor, we just liked the 16 year old model interior design a little better. New design changes are not always better. The good news is that it is a GE and far better than the competition.
