I purchased this unit a month ago as an upgrade to a perfectly functioning but somewhat dated 10 year old predecessor, and am thoroughly satisfied. Incredible picture quality, whether HD or 4k. Vivid colors, excellent brightness and solid black levels, compliments of the same chip/processor found in Sony's higher end (and therefore more expensive) models make for top notch performance. Menu system is fairly intuitive and easy enough to navigate. TV also plays nice with other components through the ARC HDMI input. Inter-component communication is almost flawless. Only weakness, at least with my unit, is a buggy Netflix app. More often than not it is excruciatingly slow to load, causing me to have to come out and re-open it repeatedly. I know it is not my internet service because Google Play and other apps work fine. Admittedly, I didn't tweak the audio, but TV speakers also sound a bit anemic. On all but the most basic program material, such as news broadcasts, game and talk shows, TV will certainly benefit from a decent, separate speaker system. Otherwise, where it counts most (picture quality), this set aces it! Sony does it again! All at a competitive holiday discount price. I now know why the set was so highly regarded by online reviewers at major publications as one of the best TV values in 2018. I concur and would readily recommend it to anyone who, though may be on a budget, still values brilliant, vibrant, razor sharp pictures comparable to those of the top shelf units.
I'm giving this tv 3 stars because as much I love it, it hasn't been operating properly for me. The first month of use I did notice it had some lag switching from apps to inputs, I'm going on 2 months with this tv now and it doesn't do anything for me now. The screen freezes, the input selections aren't being picked up anymore, and the apps won't load. I tried to go into the TV's "settings" and nothing would display. I know it's a great tv, but unfortunately I'm getting the experience I wasn't expecting from Sony. There's a reason why I wanted to buy this specific model.
Wanted upgrade with all the bells and whistles for a great price. Found it in this TV! Beautiful picture quality! Colors are true! Price was good compared to other models. Loved that I could get a 55" to fit on my stand without any overhang because the framing around TV is small.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this tv two weeks ago and am trying to watch game of thrones seasons, but most of them are too dark to see. I’ve turned the brightness to max but it didn’t help much.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I was considering purchasing an OLED, but was worried about image retention. I then came across the x900f and was sold at first sight. The TV is extremely bright and the picture quality is amazing. My cable company only broadcasts 1080p, but with the technology this tv posesses I swear I'm looking at 4k. Gaming on this tv is on another level. With the extremely high brightness and contrast, HDR content is so lifelike and vivid. The TV is so bright that looking at a white screen is comparable to staring at the sun. If your looking for a high-tier TV without breaking your wallet/purse, then X900f is what you're looking for.
I enjoy the BBC planet series show on Netflix, amazing how beautiful our home, our planet is and how we must look after it. For humans and the animals we share the most beautiful blue rock with.
