We bought this TV a couple of months ago and it is a vast improvement over our 9 year old plasma set. Picture quality and brightness are fantastic. We were apprehensive about viewing angle, but once it was installed in our home, we discovered our concerns were unfounded. A great set with many options and intuitive controls.

Great TV !!!!

I have had the Sony A1E for almost a year now. It is a great TV the OLED panel is fantastic, Sony has done a great job integration of the panel into their own technology, mainly the processor and the android software which I personally prefer of the LG web OS 3.5. The color, contrast, and clarity of the TV is fantastic hands down one of the best looking TV's I have ever seen. As noted by other reviewer's the brightness is not fantastic but OLED is by its nature a darker room TV, so as long as you don't put it in direct sunlight it is awesome. The connectivity is great, has an on-board Ethernet port and the WiFi receiver on the device does support AC WiFi. I have had zero WiFi problems or buffering issues, to those that have I would check your own router and modem first, the WiFi card on this TV is great. The stand is sort of dumb on it, it tilts back but after a short time you no longer notice the tilt the picture distracts you from it. I did not use the built in stand for very long though so I have no comment on the "bend effect" that some people say occur over time. I have it mounted using a stand. The sound is unique and sounds pretty good, not much base though, after a week or so I upgraded and got a nice sound bar. The only real negative I have is I think Sony could have done a better job on the remote for such an expensive TV, though I like the Sony software the best I think Samsung and LG do better on making premium remotes.
One thing to note to certain people, as with all OLED panel devices a certain amount of burn in can occur. In almost a year of solid use I have not experienced any burn in, but as I am aware of the effect I make special effort not to leave anything paused or any show that has a constant symbol or object that does not vanish, like the ticker on certain television news shows.

Astonishing Picture

I have been looking for a replacement for my Kuro plasma screen but had been holding off since as of yet no "mainstream" TV was noticeably better. As soon as I saw this Sony OLED I knew that my search was over. Finally a TV that has better black levels and contrast than those now passed plasma displays. Essentially everything about this television is superb, illimited viewing angle, no motion artifacts, incredible color range, the list of superlatives goes on and on. The picture quality is second to none right out of the box, though fine adjustments or calibration is easy, I doubt that few will find them necessary. Without a doubt the best television picture quality, ever. It even has decent audio, though, to be frank, this TV merits the best surround system you can afford. We finally sat down for a movie night as a family and we all agreed, the movie theater pales in comparison.

I wanted to upgrade to 4K and replace an old plasma display after ten years. The set is packed with almost a complete surround of stiff styrofoam and protected well. This unit has all the inputs and outputs for anything needed, even composite/component which is missing on some sets. It has a very cool set of hatch covers on the rear to cover up all the cables when routed up the stand feet. The thin but not too thin bezel is strong enough for moving around and does not look obtrusive. The picture settings are various and the menus allow for any adjustments needed per tastes. The realism of the picture is stunning. The set only weighs about 70 pounds with stand. You just assemble the three part stand, mount the set onto the stand and then onto your audio video rack. I used the optical cable to run to my Z*** sound base to bypass the speakers. The speakers are OK but not impressive, like any TV these days. The set quickly found my router and set itself up online with my password, software update was easy. After that you have to just use the home and settings menus to find the adjustment features you want. This is the only complaint I have, that the included operator's manual is very limited. It doesn't show how to use the menus at all, you must find them on your own by stumbling and bumbling around with the remote commands. But once you find out how to access all the adjustments the TV really comes alive! All the detail adjustments are there and fairly easy to understand. So all in all, a first class picture. Sony needs to offer an expanded operator's manual giving instructions on how to navigate the menus more understandably. Not everyone is up to date on current audio video features and how to use them. But this ranks with the best displays on the market. Everyone should be happy with this TV.

Picture is breath taking, sound is very good for a tv. Currently using the kick stand which is the only drawback due to the slight tilt but plan on wall mounting soon. Got a super deal on the price as well

Beautiful. Design on back makes mounting difficult. But it says Dolby vision but it is not. Any hdmi connected device will NOT be supported. Sony has been unclear if they will or when. I am not happy as are many who bought oled TVs with it clearly marking it supporting Dolby vision.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
