Excellent driver for medium size room 1000 square feet

A pair of RP160M driven by vacuum tube preamp and vacuum amplifier. The sound is clear especially the treble. They did a great job with that square port. However bass is not as strong. In order to make it a perfect yet compact system... i added a Premier Reference R110SW subwoofer for that extra punch.
Pros: Attractive, Easy To Set Up, Energy Efficient, GOOD MATERIAL, Good Audio

Are Great As Surround Speakers For 5.1 Setup
on November 24, 2018

I have a 5.1 setup (even though my AVR will let me run full ATMOS), and decided I needed to upgrade my old bookshelf speakers that I used as surrounds. I did a lot of research, and I always came back to Klipsch. I have the RP-450C Center Channel Speaker, and am really impressed with it. Since I know how good the RP-450C is, I figured I'd stick with what I'm familiar with. As such, I purchased the RP-160Ms to replace the old speakers. Now, a frequent mistake with 5.1 setups is that people think that because the speakers are physically located behind their listening position (like on a back wall...), that they should be connected to the "Rear Surround" terminals on their AVR. In fact, they should be connected to the "Surround" only terminals (Surround Left & Surround Right) for proper effects (read your manual!). Anyhow, using heavy-duty speaker wall mounts and hardware (the speakers are quite heavy, at a tad under 20-lbs each), I installed the RP-160Ms on the rear wall of my family room. When it was all said and done, and after calibrating the AVR with the microphone for room acoustics, I sat back and listened to music (I prefer to listen to music in surround mode). What a joy it was! Even though the speakers are brand new, and haven't been "broken in" yet, they sounded incredible. They produced much deeper bass and higher highs than the old speakers - great dynamic range - and extremely efficient at low volumes too. The sound stage/imaging was beautiful. I mainly listen to music (about 85% of the time), but I also tested them on a couple of movies (one being good old original Jurassic Park) - in a word, UNBELIEVABLE. Every nuance of the sound effects was crystal clear - no distortion or sound break-up (although I did use lower than usual volumes because the speakers aren't broken in yet). The RP-160Ms added a totally new dimension to both music and movies. These speakers are awesome, and I unequivocally recommend them. And the price is right too!

Clear mids and highs, with strong-but-tight bass

I used these to replace an older set of Bose 201 Series II bookshelf speakers. They're a little narrower than the 201s were, when they were turned on end. They have a bigger woofer, with tighter, but more powerful bass. I put my subwoofer away after getting these. The mids and highs are much clearer. The sound is great, all-around. I never realized how much detail I was missing before getting these, my first audiophile-grade speakers. If I were to nitpick a couple things, I'd wonder aloud why the bases of these had to be so much wider than the bottom of the case. The bus bars connecting the separate speaker inputs are kind of fiddly too. There's not really enough room to get fingers in there to keep them properly aligned while tightening the nuts.
Pros: Attractive, Energy Efficient, Good Audio
Cons: Heavy / Bulky

Klipsch no more

I have lost any and all respect for Klipsch with these. I had to turn the Trebble up 12 dB and the bass down 15 dB just to get anything that resembled natural sound from them. Might be good for head banger music but never for Jazz, Classical, or TV. I have designed speakers professionally for over 40 years and now I know why I don't like factory made speaks.

I purchased them about six months ago with R10SW. Running them with Denon PMA50 receiver and Sony PS-HX500 turntable. Wonderful performance with any kind of music. After getting them I purchased Klipsch GROOVE to carry my music with me wherever I go. GROOVE is also giving a great performance with its small size. I am extremely happy to have them all. One of my friends just rented a flat and we decided to buy SIXES for him and my next target would be HERESY III as soon as I could. If you are looking for a perfect sound even at the low volume do not hesitate just get them never would be regretted.
