The hard plastic case does not fit on the phone

I got the rubber part on the phone but the hard plastic outer case does not fit over the phone. I tried many different ways of getting it on - all with the fear that I was about to break my phone by forcing the cover on. The rubber cover works fine, but the hard plastic shell is useless.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is incredibly strange, since as long as you have the Google Pixel 5”, the case is engineered to match seamlessly with your phone. Wonderful fit for the Pixel

I have had otter box cases in the past for the iPhone SE and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I have to say that the new case I just received, the Commuter series for Pixel, is my favorite case in how well designed it is. Textured grips are along the side to aid in holding the phone. The fit between the inner gasket and outer case are snug. The back of the case is also nicely designed for the finger print sensor. Overall, great job!

Feels like a good quality case, so far. Still too soon to provide an informed review. Has protected the phone through a couple short drop, but loses a star for having the grippy parts in awkward places and smooth slippery plastic on the natural grip places. No grippy rubber on the back at all, so it won't stay put on a slanted surface. Does slide into tight pockets easily. May have caused a drop by being awkward, though.

I've broke a lot of phone screens but never when I had an Otterbox Commuter Series case equipped. The Commuter for the Pixel keeps true to its name. Strong enough to take the bumps of day-to-day use, rubber accents and texture make for easy holding, and the depression for the print scanner on the back is the perfect size. A solid choice.

This case is sturdy, without adding too much bulk to the phone, and it is even more awesome since it has port covers built into the case. I am glad I chose this case over some others that I considered (other cases did not have the port covers).

Arrived promptly. Fit on the phone is spot-on and it protects well. Have owned 2 other Otterbox cases on previous phones and would buy again, based on this one.
The only thing I'd change would be if they had a more colorful option for the Pixel. I love my previous "yellow + black" commuter case for my Droid Maxx b/c it was easy to find when I left it somewhere. And it didn't look like every other 'black slab' out there. It's a minor quibble and I still give this case 5 stars.
