I bought this for backpacking with the means of dirt and water protection in mind. The case gives me peace of mind with both even with openings in the case like the fingerprint reader, bottom speaker and ear speaker. I've dropped it a few times on concrete no more than three ft and survived. Speaker volume is slightly affected. Good ol OtterBox feel.

I bought this several weeks ago because I destroyed my phone. I decided I needed a protective case. This is good at protecting the phone (which I have not dropped since purchasing, ironically), however is bulkier than I would have liked. I knew it was heavy duty and would increase the size of the phone substantially, I just think I should have tried it before I bought it. The more concerning issue is that I live in a hot climate, so sometimes I sweat when I'm on the phone. Sweat has gone in through the speaker and is now trapped behind the screen protector. It defeats the purpose of the case if it traps water next the screen.

Great Case, But Made of a Material that Gets Dirty

I bought this case in the lighter aqua color and had to replace it 6 months later because the material stains really badly. It looked soooo dirty and no amount of cleaning would make it look any better. It got embarrassing, so I bought another one in gray. At least the dirt won't show.

I was excited to get my Google pixel and then I realized that I needed a case because it's not exactly cheap. Otterbox always gets brought up when I asked around for a 'sturdy phone case' then there are a lot of youtube vids showing how phones are dropped and whatnot. I've had my case now for a few months and it is awesome. I personally rarely drop my phone to begin with but so far it's been dropped twice (from ~2 feet/hip height) and nothing. I was also concerned about the case itself becoming gross (dirt and makeup) or scratched...nothing. My only CON is that it took me over 10-15 minutes to get that freaking thing opened in order to put my phone in when I first got it. I have nails so I can't imagine how anybody else without nails managed. But I would assume that something this sturdy would be hard to open easily, so ...I am a lifetime Otterbox fan at this point.

Spent the extra and worth every penny. Easy to fit, sturdy case that doesn't inhibit use of the device. Only small gripe is the built in screen protector. Not up to the quality of the case and removed within an hour of use. Just remove this altogether Otterbox and supply the case with a separate, quality screen protector.

I bought the Defender again after only needing one in the five previous years with my iPhone, which never received a scratch. This case seems slimmer than the iPhone case was, but still with excellent durability. My only grip is that I wanted a colorful case, so instead of gray or black, I got the light turquoise one, which was the only other color option. After several weeks of use (some of which was camping, granted), it's quite dirty - I wish the color would've been darker so the dirt didn't show up quite so much.
