Best product I've bought ever. This thing has made me want to make my diet more healthy. I got rid of all products with processed salt and sugar and now make my own sauces and dressings. The recipe book included has only 5 soups or so; they are all delicious. I have since added a book of 500 Vitamix recipes to my collection and bought the stainless steel attachment for things with tumeric or beets.

Hello! If your Vitamix shut down while you were blending, it is likely it temporarily overheated. Sometimes the machine may emit a burning odor and/or stop temporarily because its thermal protector sensed that the machine was close to overheating. If this occurs, we recommend turning the power switch off for up to 45 minutes, allowing the machine to cool down or reset. To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor. Simple to use and clean

Purchased this product about 8 months ago and we love it! We typically use it for smoothies or milkshakes, but have also used it for hummus and non-nut butters. We have had success with all of the above. The cookbook that came with our purchase has so many great recipes we are going to try (the non-nut butter we have already tried) and love the recipes available online. Our favorite feature is how easy it is to clean: add warm soap and water and just turn the blender on. It's great!
My only struggle is to get a very smooth no-nut butter, but I think more practice is required.
My only complaint is that I wish the blender container was glass not plastic. Which is why we purchased the stainless steel blender.

I rarely used a blender before I bought the Vitamix, but now I use it about every other day for making egg nog, apple cider, or chowder. I particularly like its 64 oz. capacity and the fact that it is so easy to clean.
