Gorgeous although I haven't been able to use it

The Vitamix A2300 I got is gorgeous, it look like a piece of art. I had been dreaming with it for over 2 years and since I am vegan I was hoping to make nut cheese, soups, nice-cream and all the recipes that I haven't been able to taste since I moved to rural Tanzania 7 years ago. Unfortunatelly I wrongly assumed that the blender was bivolt and was never able to use it - when performing the initial cleaning it turned off and hasn't worked again since. I am devastated as it took me a long time to save money to buy the blender as well as find a friend traveling to Tanzania from the US that would accept bringing it and I haven't been able to use it once :(.

Best kitchen purchase in the last few years

This is a easy to use high quality product. It is more than a blender and much better than any other blender I've ever used. In fact, I gave away my Ninja Pro blender and my old Oster. I have been using this everyday since the day I received it. I make two types of smoothies every day. One is fruit with protein powder and the other is a green veggie smoothie "Dr. Oz" see picture. I found that my green smoothies are as good as using a juicer. The texture is the only difference and I love the fact that I'm not loosing the fiber, which is huge bonus heath wise. I've made frozen desserts using frozen fruit and almond/cashew milk. I've made frozen dessert with fresh fruit, spinach, milk and ice, both turned out incredible. The Vitamix makes a great soup. I've made a few soups and they have turned out great very fresh tasting and delicious. I've made hummus multiple times, it turns out smooth and better than store bought hummus. I've made peanut butter, cashew butter and almond butter all of which turned out excellent. Also, I use it to make batter, which turns incredibly smooth. At the end of the day this is the most used item in my kitchen and well worth the money at any price.

Food Stuck Under the Rubber Ring

Unlike the old model, the clear plastic lid on Ascent series has a rubber ring to prevent liquid from leaking when the mixer is on. Unfortunately, food gets trapped under the rubber ring and there is no way to clean it because the ring is tightly fitted on the lid. I make smoothies everyday and I can see the build-up under the seal. It's kinda gross and un-sanitary.
Except for that, I love the performance of this machine.My suggestion, get the old style one with black lid.

I had used another, less aggressive blender for 20+ years. It leaked chronically and took forever to blend ice. The Vitamix changed my life. It is used twice a day, never leaks, and blends smoothies completely and quickly. I should have bought one of these Vitamix blenders years ago.

Think I like my old 5300 model better

Loyal Vitamix user for about 9 years 5300; wanted to upgrade. We use the Vitamix blender daily /mostly for breakfast smoothies. A2300 blender is powerful and makes a great smoothie once you get the ratio of ingredients to your liking. Even after 6 months of daily use, still feel that the on- off switch and dial is not user friendly/natural. Guess I'm used to the 5300. Can be loud which is to be expected. Not a fan of the new container; not ideal for smaller servings. Will look into purchasing the additional containers when available. Also need to get out the very
nice recipe booklet and expand my usage.

I bought the Vitamix after going to a Smoothies, Salad dressing and Soup cooking class. The Vitamix makes cooking and creating so much easier than I had realized. I am inventing new healthy soups all the time now.
