Doesn't blend thicker items

I can't blend hummus (i have to add tons of liquid), nut butters or other thicker type foods. This blender really struggles. I have to constantly tamp down thicker smoothies and frozen bananas to make them blend. It won't pulverize seeds from berries. I expected more for the cost. I don't know if my blender is faulty.
It does great for recipes with lots of liquid.

Vitamix blenders are in a class of their own, this unit is the much the same. Opted to go for the simpler 2300 than the 3500. It's simple which is what I like.

Had the 2300 for about 6 months now. I use it 1-2 times a day and it's worked flawlessly. I wish it was quieter but besides that it's perfect.

So, this isn't my first Vitamix, it's my second! No, there was nothing wrong with the first one. I just wanted to get another more smart home friendly version. I returned my other blender and decided to go with the Ascent A2300. I love it! super simple, no touch panels, easy to clean, and I love a tactile feel. I live in a small studio apt in NYC ( I am a native); however; I like to be modern and I have a smart home. it fits underneath my kitchenette, and I have ample room for my KitchenaAide air fryer/toaster oven. I didn't need the bells and will whistles of the preset dials or anything. I wanted a blender that would do it all and just over all last me for years to come. I know the presets are nice BUT, the beauty and versatility of the base line A2300 is that you still get a Bluetooth enabled Device AND you can use the presets with the Perfect Blend app! don't sleep on it. I use it a ton! plus I gained so much weight (30 pounds) from covid and being in quarantine. This beast helps me to make better & healthier everyday every morning for my smoothies or when I'm in the mood for hummus. its a beauty of a machine and matches my other appliances. I also have the 20-8OZ blending cups for the perfect amount of hummus and smoothies shakes, personal drinks, dips etc. you really cannot go wrong!

A burnt smell

I bought my Vitamix a year ago, every time I use it on speed 7 or more it smells like burning. Therefore I have used it 6 times at maximum. The product works, blends greatly, but this issue keeps coming up. Any help?

Sometimes the machine may emit a burning odor and/or stop temporarily because its thermal protector sensed that the machine was about to overheat. If this occurs, we recommend turning the power switch off for up to 45 minutes, allowing the machine to cool down or reset. To avoid overheating your machine in the future, be sure to ramp the machine up to the highest speed within five seconds of turning it on to activate the cooling fan in the motor.
