I bought the Brother MFC-J6935DW with grant money to use as a classroom printer so I can print my first graders' certificates in color! I have to admit I was a little intimidated by it after our school tech coordinator set it up for me. But, I am very pleased with the ease of use and the quality of the color copies I'm been printing. I've printed a LOT of color copies to use in setting my room up for the new school year. It still has most of the color ink left in the cartridges so it appears that the cartridges will last awhile. Prices for replacement cartridges are very reasonable, too! I chose this particular model because I can use the 11"x17" size paper.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Prints fast!

It prints quickly for everyday printing. The software that comes with it has a bit of a learning curve but once you get used to it, it seems fine.
Photo printing is acceptable but I'm not using it to print fine brochures or artwork.
Inexpensive ink was/is a big plus for me.

In bad need of accessibility improvements

Given this product's price and Brother's ordinarily excellent reputation, this product is in bad need of improvements to make it more accessible to disabled users. Specifically, I'm totally blind, no light perception or low vision, so my sighted wife has to deal with the touch screen dominant controls. As a software engineer, I know how easy it would be for Brother to provide a software alternative control panel interface which would work with screen reading software to provide full access to manipulating the printer's touch screen dominant controls. This would be a much less expensive fix than the alternative of making the touch screen talk, which would require expensive hardware modifications to the printer. I gave a fair versus poor rating only because the device otherwise seems to do its advertised job. And yes, I know, nothing said it would be accessible, but I expected better from Brother since I can use their brand laser printer with little to no assistance from a sighted person. What software is included clearly hasn't been tested with screen reading software, because I must jump through all sorts of methods to try to figure out what I'm doing, and in some cases I just get so frustrated fighting with it that I just give up and get sighted help. Which doesn't make one feel very self-sufficient (you'd understand if you had to do it as frequently as many blind people do). Lack of accessibility in anything in 2018 is pathetic and utterly inexcusable, given the emphasis on it by so many leading manufacturers of consumer devices. People with vision, hearing and mobility disabilities are consumers too; we need to print, scan and fax things as much or more than sighted consumers, but because we're a minority, we're an afterthought. Again, Brother could resolve this problem very easily and inexpensively in software, but I'm betting they never will.

Uses too much ink / Not great quality printing

I think I'm on my 3rd set of cartridges and I've not even used the printer that much. I'm a Realtor and need to print high-quality flyers, and the print quality isn't what I expected. The colors aren't even (the green is very light). I've cleaned the heads, etc. many times and it doesn't get much better.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's a printing BEAST!

I bought it for our home office, and it is a BIG BOY! I have yet to put it through the numbers, but it has executed the early tasks flawlessly. The legal sized scanner is amazing! It's probably more than we needed (said my wife) but I love it. We have done at least 80 pages of color and the pack in ink cartridges are still 75% full! Aside of its size, it's a welcomed addition to our house. I have always had good luck with Brother products. From our first wireless black laser printer, to our handheld deluxe labeler, to this newest purchase!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Ok but not great

When multiple copies are made the copies fall on the floor. It only copies two or three pages before the copies start slipping off the tray and falling on the floor

We just upgraded to this printer from a MFC-J5920DW, I have no complaints! It's faster with more features, we are a small Office & this printer is perfect. We can scan & print Ledger Size paper which is a must here. The Control Center is great & easy to use & the investment saves ink & money.
I would recommend this to a friend!
