Love the flexibility

DO NOT BUY - design defects

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As many others have stated, there is a major design defect. The door latching and safety switch system will fail quickly. My failed in month 13 of our 12 month warranty. I've replaced the switch several times but it keeps failing. It may be that the cheap plastic parts are warping and causing the switches to not sequence correctly, it may be that the massive flex in the door triggers the switches in a wrong sequence. Either way, many have had this problem and you will too probably.

Terrific oven

We bought this oven as part of a complete kitchen remodel. It is mounted above a larger 800 Series wall oven. Here are 4 things to consider when purchasing: 1) I have to remove the door to reach the back of the oven to clean it since the door opens downward. 2) As I had read in previous reviews, the alarm truly is pitiful, to the point of being worthless. I now always use a separate alarm when cooking. 3) When using the unit in convection mode, you lose the convenience of the microwave. For example, when you're baking something in this oven, you don't have a mircowave to melt butter or thaw a frozen item for another recipe. So remember to use the microwave for what you need before using it as a convection oven. 4) A full size cookie sheet will not fit in this oven.
None of these issues constitutes a major inconvenience to me, and I would buy another one if it became necessary. This oven is still terrific!

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MODEL!

We've always been happy with our Bosch appliances but this model is horrible. Purchased in May, 2017 we immediately had difficulty opening and shutting the door. Had to use both hands on handle to get it open. After a little oer a year of mild use (just two of us) it broke. A plastic piece broke where the door latch enters the unit and it triggers the electrical system in the microwave/oven to stop. The repair person said that he has seen this A LOT. $320 repair...who knows why Bosch uses a small piece of plastic as part of the door latch! Well, guess what? Here we are one year later and the same thing just happened again! Unfortunately my husband refused to buy a warranty trusting the "high quality" of Bosch products so we are out of luck. Rather than drop another $320 for a piece of plastic we are going to purchase a different model and get a warranty this time. Another issue is that the alarm bell is so quiet it is useless. I expect more from Bosch.

Microwave

Built new home moved in may of 2017. All Bosch appliances. All good but microwave. Burned up both fuses and door latch switch. Appliance company ordering parts to fix it. 1.5 years old that's really pathetic spending more money for quality and this to happen. Unfortunately didn't buy extended warranty. Only because all the other cheap microwaves lasted until I gave them away
