It should be a no-brainer that metal in a microwave could cause arcing issues, especially when close to the source of the microwaves. The metal truntable has plastic wheels mounted on a metal protrusion that is very close to the bottom of the microwave, which causes arcing and is dangerous. It gets worse over time to the point of making the microwave useless. I am now awaiting my third metal tray replacement. So, why not fix the root cause so I won't have to replace the microwave. Just design a better tray that doesn't contain metal! This is not what I expect from Bosch. Otherwise it is a nice microwave.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Have a Bosch Benchmark range and, before we moved, had an over the range microwave by Bosch and never had a problem with either. Brought my stove with me but our new home was designed for a built-in. At that time, the store was having difficulty getting the Bosch microwave and recommended an Electrolux. The Electrolux developed a serious problem after one year and, oh, Electrolux was still selling it but was no longer making parts. Back to dependable, multifunctional Bosch! My 800 Series Speed Oven does everything superbly (I'm still learning but I just check the manual when I'm unsure) and looks great! I do wish they had included a manual with the oven. I had to download and print. I expect no issues with this oven.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this Bosch 800 Series speed oven seven years ago for a new house. I loved the oven, but it experienced the display dimming that others had noted after about 15 months. Even though it was technically out of warranty, Bosch replaced the control board. After about 9 months, that control board too failed. Bosch again replaced this board. Otherwise, it was a great, trouble-free, speed oven for five more years....microwave and small oven. When we had a chance to buy appliances for another house, I immediately decided on the Bosch 800 Series Speed Oven, again. I know the company will stand behind their products and that the appliance will serve me well. Just the right size for a pizza or a pan of rolls, or as a microwave (that doesn't have to sit on my counter).
It is a nice looking and easy to use Speedoven. We have installed it for only a month. I have yet to try the oven function, but the microwave function has worked fine so far. The only thing I wish Bosch provides better instructions for installation. Since we have to wait months for our cabinets to be installed first, we end up installing it ourselves. I wish there were more detailed and maybe a video instruction.
Over the years the door has been more and more difficult to open. When the tech came out to look at the turntable and repair the wheels (new turntable was sent) We had him look at the door then - but it has gotten so bad that on occasions we can not use the microwave. My Husband and Adult son have troubles opening also it takes so much strength to open it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the combo stove and microwave and can't imagine ever going back. So glad to have this new appliance.
