My only negative comment is that sometimes the cars seem to fall off the track too easily, but otherwise it's a great basic set. Enough pieces to make a big track without all the extra stuff my 2 year old would probably try to put in his mouth.

My son loves this set! It works perfectly with the other wooden train sets he has, so the possibilities are endless! The support blocks for the elevated tracks are a little precarious for my 4 yr old's playing habits, so we have to constantly "repair" the track as it gets bumped and moved during the course of his play. If they were a little wider or resembled a bridge support, that might help alleviate that problem. I also love the additional track layouts included that gives us new configurations to try each time he plays. Thank you!

I love Melissa and Doug products but this one fails the test. This was the main Christmas gift for my 3 year old but the wheels do not all spin properly on the train pieces and it is constantly frustrating to keep the train on the track for the both of us. Another con is the swivel pice does not line up and click together so it is shifted from the rest of the track. Very disappointed in this product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
