Extremely Poor Design

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) We completed a new build in November of 2021 and purchased a Bosch dishwasher, induction cooktop, wall oven and microwave for our new kitchen. We would rate all of the items purchased 5 stars except for the microwave. This microwave does not live up to Bosch's reputation for well-thought out and designed appliances. The door opens down, instead of to the side. This is extremely awkward, given that the bottom of the microwave 48 inches off the floor. Additionally, the manual says the display brightness has 3 settings, but we can only get the display to get to a two, as the brightest. When not in use, the display is not readable. This is not mentioned in the manual, as normal operating status, but customer service maintains that the microwave is meant to go into sleep mode. This happens when the timer is in use, so it is clearly a design problem. Please read all of the other reviews prior to making a purchase of this product. I wish I had.

More Problems

I have an older model HMC80251UC, which is very similar. We have had both the dimming control panel problem and now the door hinges have failed. The microwave is about 5 years old. We recently replaced the control panel to deal with the dimming problem, which bosch replaced free of charge after we complained about this well-known problem. Now the hinges. We are told that we must purchase a brand new door. For a company that appears to pride itself on product quality, this is very disappointing. The problem is that because this is an integrated unit with a conventional oven, it is hard to replace with another brand. I wonder what Robert Bosch would think. I will be writing to the CEO Dale Elliot to express my disappointment in the quality of this microwave product.

Unique Microwave

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a good product. Different than most microwaves since the door opens down (similar to an oven). It has a great look as well because it looks just like an oven. Only flaw is defrost options. I wish I could just defrost by selecting a time and or weight but instead I have to choose chicken, beef, etc. Sometimes I'm defrosting items that don't match up with the options.

Door & low wattage

Poor Quality

Quite working after 1.5 years and it was used lightly.. Gives off a sound like a transformer failure. Is BOSCH trying to succeed off of name only. Past microwaves I've own have lasted 10 years or more. What is the deal BOSCH? What are my options?

Nice!
