Stood the test of time!

My wife bought the Longhorns for me in 2012. I grill, in Kansas, all year long, year round average of twice a week. The bottom of the charcoal side has finally gotten thin enough to replace. Gas side still good (replaced metal tents above burners about 2018). Smoker box is still good also as I always had a rack for the wood to sit on so no direct contact. I am going to buy another one of these, just trying to find it in Topeka. Strongly recommend.

I bought my Smoker/Grill about 10 months ago. I love the choice between Gas, Charcoal or Smoker. It doesn't have the size of a dedicated Smoker or Grill. But for a small to medium size family it is plenty big enough for anything you may want to cook, smoke or grill. I love this Smoker/Grill so much I use it more than I use my stove or oven. I have smoked everything from Chicken, Thick cut pork chops, Pork shoulder, Turkey breast, Burger and dogs on the gas side, even baked beans and Squash. I love that it gives you 3 options of how you want to cook. And the burner on the end even lets you prepare sauces or keep your basting sauce warm so it doesn't slow down the cooking process by cooling the surface of the meat. I only wish there was a way to mount a rotisserie on it. But it would get in the way of the Smoker box door or the Burner lid. I would definitely recommend this Smoker/Grill to any small to medium sized family who loves cooking or grilling. It was one of my best small investments that has paid off big time. It is way better built that most of the lesser made grills out there, with their flimsy lids and hinges. I am very happy with this product and am looking into buying a dedicated Smoker like the Longhorn. I see this Smoker/Grill lasting me a good 5 - 10 years.

Bought the grill over two years ago. I have no rust on the grill at all like some folks are saying. I just wonder if they know how to properly season a grill. It is just like seasoning cast iron cookwear. Grill is a very good value and great to use. I would be surprised if you could build one for the price.

A Grill for every desire

I love cooking with gas during the week and save the smoker and charcoal side for the weekend. The gas eye on the side is excellent for cooking vegetables also. I have seen a tiny rust, but that is only because i sometimes forget to put my cover on it (totally my fault). The only thing I have noticed as a defect is the gas line going to the gas burner eye disconnected and I am going to have to see how to connect that part back. altogether, worth the money and it gives me everything i need.
Oh and the thermometer is only on the charcoal side and is a bit off. When cooking with gas its kind of a guess of how hot it is

Rusting on Gas side.

Very disappointed in this Grill. Gas side of the grill is completely useless because of parts rusting and heat shield support weld breaking.

I bought this unit to be able to do both grill and smoke in one unit. The only thing that I have found is it is heavy and hard to move. I cut the fixed legs off and welded metal casters to them. This made it easier to move.
Gaps need to be sealed and or fit better.

I love the functioning of the smoker/grill, but for the price I think the quality should be better. After only 4 years, there is significant rust and paint peeling. The grill has always been covered with a fitted cover, and ashes cleaned out as soon as it cools. I'll probably get a few more years out of it before it rusts through. When I replace it, it won't be with a Char-Broil (Smokey Joe's parent company) brand.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
