Excellent grill for grillers w/ smaller payloads

I've had excellent results with this grill. If you are new to grilling or smoking I recommend you look at something more specific to your cooking style. For me, the combination of off-set smoke box and propane grill offers an excellent compromise without the need to have multiple grills. Big plus. I seldom use propane except for burgers, charring stakes, or the quick dinner. The smoke box is excellent if you have access to desirable smoke woods. It allows for either offset smoking, or bottom direct cooking over charcoal or real wood. The propane side is a 3 burner setup, and you can easily add a piece of smokewood over one of the burners for some additional flavor. That said, grill areas are smaller than a typical grill, however, I've not have an issue feeding 8 or more people, or even cooking a full size brisket. Overall, I give this unit 5 stars because of the convenience it offers. Nice job OJ!

Low quality steel, lots of rust.

For a grill at this price range, I am disappointed that the burners, heat shields, and worst of all, the welded on brackets that support the burners and shields have rusted away! If your going to use cheap steel, at least make them bolt on.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

grill is great needs gaskets on doors lets out alot of your smoke when cooking other than that solid build

Nothing but an oversized rust bucket

3 years ago I bought 2 of the combo smoker, charcoal& gas grill, 1 for myself and the 2nd one for my son. Both were under cover and never are out in the weather and both rusted out in less than 2 years. We attempted to clean and paint with high heat paint the rusted areas, replaced the brackets that held the burners in place with stainless steel but when we would fix one thing another would be already rusted out. After repeated repairs we and our son have in less than 3 years of purchase have sat both of these grills out for the scrape dealers to pick up because yes they are very heavy and the local garbage service would not haul them away.

Rust buckets - total waste of money

I purchased 2 of these grills, one for myself and the other for my son. They were always under an outdoor canopy and protected from the weather and in less than 3 years and having already rebuilt them for the second time from replacing rusting parts they were presently both sat out for the garbage when again the burners, heat shields and most other parts were totally gone from rust.

This is the third year now for my Longhorn Combo. I love the flexibility of Smoke Box, Charcoal, and Gas. The monster is heavy which reflects how well it is built. Reviews were negative for the cover, but I keep mine covered when not in use and it protects it well and looking good. I recommend the Longhorn and cover.

Bought this unit at a local store , only flaw ive found so far is the smoker you cant really snuff the fire, the tending door needs some kinda seal 11hrs later i still have red coals in the charcoal section. but overall very satisfied with the unit built to last

Charcoal disappointing.

I was disappointed in the charcoal application. The bottom of the barrel is so far away from the grill rack-at least a solid 8 inches that steaks steam more than sear. I tried a fix by using stones to build up the base from the bottom. It was better, but still not what I'd hoped for. If you are looking for a direct fire, high experience-this is not the grill for you.
