Finally a combo i can enjoy

Here is my 2 cents…. for the Longhorn 3 in 1 combo
We purchased this grill combo just over a mont ago. I took the time to season the inside with a generous amount if high quality oil. I have used this grill now about 9 times since purchase. Used the side burner for sautéed veggies. Used the gas side for chicken and steaks. Used the smoker side for ribs, steaks and chicken. ALL worked as advertised and the food was cooked to perfection.
What can be improved….
The chamber for briquettes or coals could be better. The only way to add fuel to the chamber is by removing the cooking grate while your food is still on it and move out of the way. A little inconvenient but manageable. I also notice that the Temperature gauges MIGHT be inadequate. During the seasoning process, the temp gauges went way past the 550 degree and stated climbing back up on the lower temp side of the guage. ( hope this makes sence )
I have also noticed it is very difficult to achieve a low temperature on the gas side even when using only one of the 3 gas burner. The only way i was able to achieve my low temperature target was by cracking open and keeping the lid open to bleed off the extra heat.
Perhaps there is a better way but not sure what it could be.

Disappointed

1st time using it couldn’t keep the heat up on the smoker, was only trying keep it at 225. Second time couldn’t keep it under 300.
Smoker lid does not seal tightly and now does not close tightly (I have to use a bungee cord to keep it shut.
Propane side has major “hot spots” and doesn’t cook evenly.
Would have returned it if I didn’t buy it in February and not use it until late may.

Great Product

I've had my Longhorn about a year and a half. I absolutely love it. Great versatility as well. I've had no issues with mine. As long as you keep it covered and cleaned out, should have many years of grilling success.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Purchased this grill a month ago with high expectations. Smoker lid does not close fully. Gas side lid is offset and does not close fully. Burner lid does not close properly. Charcoal grade is about 50% too small for this size grill.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Too must rust

I bought this 3 years ago at lowes and frankly I am very disappointed. The quality is not what I thought it would be. The smoker side has had no issues and I use 3 to times a month. The gas side is another story, even though it stays covered except when in use the rust has made it almos unusable. The grate supports rusted first and no longer are level. I had to replace the heat shields after only a year. Rust is all rind the gas cover and I am currently try to repair that. Any suggestions on how to repair the grate supports would be appreciated.

Premature rust through

Overall this seemed to be a good product but found to have an Achilles heel for which there is no solution from OK Joe and quite disappointing considering the cost I paid for the combo grill. It seems the Heat Tent support brackets are poorly designed and poorly welded to the barrel and with 3 of 6 of the brackets rusting through despite arduous care to keep the inside of the grill clean and oiled failed and despite having the grill covered using the OK Joe cover. OK Joe say only fix is to replace the entire gas grill side fire box or if I'm a good welder, fix them myself. It would seem that a bracket that could be drilled and screw mounted would be a simple option but to no avail per OK Joe support. Only fix I'm told is to replace the fire box which would be 25-30% of the cost of a new grill. Looking for my receipt hoping by chance I have not crossed the 2 year warranty window but it will be close and who knows if that will resolve either.

I have owned my Longhorn for roughly 4yrs now and love it. My problem is that the shields on the propane side have rotted and so have the mounts for the shields. Other than that I use mine atleast 3-4 times a week all year long.
I would recommend this to a friend!
