Nice Combo

I bought this thing a couple of weeks ago and have worked with it 3 times now. I have used the gas side twice and smoked my very first ribs yesterday. I have to say, the gas side runs really hot as I ruined my first test of Rib-Eyes, and then my second go around my burgers really dried out. When all three burners are turned all the way down, it is still too hot to cook. Next time will turn off one burner and cook away from the fire. Now for the smoker part. It was awesome!!! This is the first time ever smoking ribs with wood and lump charcoal. I sat at my smoker the whole 5.5 hours monitoring my temps. I added wood if it dropped below 220 and fiddled with the vents to keep it below 250. My average cook temp was 230. My ribs were fall off the bone tender, just the way I like them, and just the right amount of smoke, IMO. A little much for my wife but my grandson ate a plate full. The only reason for 4 stars is the gas portion burns way too hot. I would move the burners oswn away from the grates.

Great grill/smoker worth every penny!

My wife got my Longhorn as a gift and I absolutely love it. The only thing I might suggest to improve on is the little side burner as it is not super strong where it connects to the side of the gas grill chamber. But that being said I seldom use the side burner as anything other than a place to set things…

Bought this to replace my old propane grill. Used it to smoke some chicken turned out excellent. Im hooked now.

I have had this grill for just over 2 years and the heat tents rusted out and broke in half. I get they will rust but to rust out and break in half after 2 years is unacceptable. My wife even applied a coat of oil to the entire grill almost every 30 days and up until about 3 weeks ago was always covered with the Oklahoma Joe's cover unless in use. It even was partially under cover. If it was just the heat tents rusting it would not be a major concern, but other parts are rusting as well. Especially around welded joints. With the exception of the rust it is a great grill and love fact I can smoke or grill on this unit. Just be aware if you don't mind wire brushing and repainting every now and then this is the grill/smoker you want.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Everything I want, concerned how long it will last

The reason I chose this specific grill over others was the versatility. Having one piece of equipment like this on my small patio opposed to two pieces ( a separate grill and smoker) made a difference for me, and I like having the option to grill with propane on weeknights when I don’t have a ton of time, or charcoal and logs to smoke or grill on the weekends when I have more time.
I’ve smoked two meals, and have grilled four thus far. The downsides to this product that I have noticed are, the temperature gages don’t really work at all, and that it’s going to rust quick. The thermostat on the grill side after four uses doesn’t work at all, the smoker side still does, but even when they were both working, I’m not sure they were accurate as I used probes (just on the grill grates before putting the meat on) to check the temperature as well and the probes and thermostats on both sides of the grill/smoker would read temperatures 80 degrees off from each other. Considering the one side stopped working after four uses, it’s hard for me to trust that the one gage that still works is accurate. After smoking my first meal on the smoker side, there was a portion of the fire box that was already starting to peel paint and rust. I understand this is going to happen eventually, but having one fire and it already has started to rust has me concerned that this grill will not last very long.

Grate for what I need, I need a upgrade

I've had my combo grill for two years now, and I'm loving it, I was always a gas guy, fast a quick, married with seven children, you sometimes need to get food done fast
but I wanted to try smoking, so this was a good choice for me, now that I'm smoking every Sunday, winter as well, I'm not even using the gas side no more my kids love the smoking flavors as well. The combo quality of built and finish is good, no problems at all, I think it's overall a well built combo grill for the price I have paid. I would mention that the fire box bottom screen can use a better way to get it out, like larger opening, but it's now a big deal. As for maintaining it in good condition, I try to keep it clean, I spay cooking oil before and after I use it, and I keep it covered when not in use.
No it's time for a upgrade, thinking of trying a DLX pellet smoker.

My wife bought this grill for me for fathers day last year and unfortunately it leaves alot to be desired. from the small grilling space to the inconsistent temperature fluctuations, i should not have to spend more time on maintaining a constant temp. i should be inside sipping on some beer while the grill does all the work. this item is an over priced charcoal grill nothing more. i hope they will improve on the workmanship (i.e. get better welders),

Owned the Oklahoma Joes for over seven years. Fabricator in family has made replacement parts, as original pieces rusted. For the money, would expect materials to last longer. Love three in one functionality, disappointed in quality of product.
