Poor Man's La Cornue

Haier Smart Home Company is smart company but the slippery stove top grates are mucho problemo. Yes, GE, we know you rigorously test your products to meet the highest standards and all that. but, after reading the manual cover to cover, an carefully leveling my new JGBS10DEMWW, the first dish i whipped up, in a lightweight wok, was slip-sliding all over that grate, with one hand on the wok handle an other on the splatter screen overhead and my third hand on the spatula to stir my stir fry i managed to keep my lunch from hitting the floor. i'm going to do some jury rigging and find a way to give at least one of the grates some traction. otherwise, overall, it's a great practical, utilitarian appliance. the fact that the GE "meatball" logo is placed so low, on the broiler drawer, gives an overall appearance that this is their bottom-tier, house brand model and that if you want a La Cornue Château range, you better be prepared to pay for it. ha ha.

It works but it's slow to light up. It lets a lot of gas out before it lights.

Basic Oven

Despite being in a new house the appliances were a plain Jane. While this stove does the job I had several issues. 1. There is NO face on the stove, so you cannot set a timer or view the time. 2. The oven does not BEEP when you are preheating so you have to take your chances on it being at the right temp. 3. THE SMELL IT BURNS IS AWFUL! I burned it several times a week at 450 and the plastic burning smell would not go away! 4. The glass portion of the oven gets VERY hot so beware of little hands touching it. 5. The burner covers on the top do not stay in place very well. If you're looking for a basic oven then this is for you. If you're wanting something a bit more advanced spend a few extra hundred bucks and get something better!

Ge stove

I bought this stove two weeks ago. I hate it. Makes all my pot handles untouchable. And makes the temp of my kitchen unbearable. All the heat from oven goes back into room instead of up to exauat fan.

Bought the stove in March was working great, but the oven quit working after a month. It was the igniter, and according to the repairman, they've had to replace a lot of those. I can remember when GE used to be a reliable brand, but not so much any more.

Most basic and function

It is at least I can afford but broiler is humiliating. I have to get down on my knees to look at the food being broiled. Limited tray pull out to almost nil. No broiler pan storage. No clock nor timer. These are basic needs but do not come with this product.

Seems sturdy and reliable

I wanted a basic stove and this seems the perfect choice. I like the electric ignition, so the gas is not fueling a pilot light. It does not have many frills, but that means there is less to break. So far the burners and oven work as expected.
I would recommend this to a friend!
