(1) The plastic upper shelf for silverware smells bad. (2) It is difficult to get plates or glasses to stay upright. The wire framework is not level and items are difficult to place without them falling over. (3) The switches are on the top inner edge so when you open the door you tend to accidentally push the switches. (4) On the plus side, at least it's quiet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We will be sure and share your comments with our appliance design team for future consideration. Odors associated with new appliances are normal. The processes used during manufacturing often may leave a "newness" odor that may not dissipate until after several washing cycles. This condition is completely normal. You can alleviate this condition by running the dishwasher through several cycles using detergent. We hope this helps. Geoff@GEA

i was replacing a Kenmore Elite dishwasher that was 17 years old.
This GE is not as quiet as the old Kenmore. I would recommend a thicker pad of insulation with this GE unit.

Needs a real locking door

The friction lock door does not give great confidence that it seals well. When it was installed it leaked but the after a couple of loads it was fine. Repair tech stated that happens sometimes??? So, I should be prepared to have water all over the floor when I buy a new appliance as a normal thing for a couple of uses??? Build it with a locking door.

Super Quiet!

Our last GE dishwasher lasted approximately 15 years and Wow! how the technology as improved! Not only is this new one so much quieter it leaves the dishes cleaner than brand new! Very happy with this model. Installation was quick and easy, although the "connection" pack purchased with the unit did not contain all the necessary fittings to complete the install.

We purchased this dishwasher along w/ french door bottom freezer refrigerator, built in microwave, slide in gas convection range in July 2018. This dishwasher has shot craps. It won't do anything. Panel won't light up. You can't start or reset the dishwasher. If I could give it a minus 5 stars I would.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
