Have had this machine for about a month. It is a quiet machine. You can barely hear it running when fully loaded. Does a pretty good job of cleaning dishes even without pre rinsing the food from the plates. Pretty happy with it so far.

Great overall value

Our old (different brand) unit died on us, and being a first time homeowner and knowing nothing about this stuff, I started my research.
After doing some due diligence in my research, and going to look at products over a few months, we landed on the GE over all the other brands. One thing I noted immediately was build quality in comparison to the rivals, who are typically electronics makers. Their construction didn’t feel as solid or sturdy as the GE did.
A few take always:
The extra flatware row up top is a new feature for us that we are enjoying and still playing with. It’s also convenient to have the ability to adjust the (formerly top rack) cup rack up and down etc. to help make all the things fit both above and below. This level also has a bottle blaster row that has larger prongs that have water jets in them to clean out your reusable bottles or those hard to reach locations. Super handy for those with kids or who like to use the reusable water bottles.
It’s SUPER SUPER quiet; I didn’t measure against what GE states the decibel (db) level to be, but in my experience assisting in undersea acoustics in a past life, I believe this to be very close, if not quieter then the stated db level (I think their number was conservative).
The bottom row has multiple adjustment points within the rack to change the configuration of the rows. I really like that feature as it changes how things fit - for the better!
The instructions are extremely helpful in relaying all info, including the discrete details. As mentioned above I’m new to this and have never installed a DW! Small related sidebar - I read a review about this product where the person said after they installed it, that it was too loud. But I noted 2 locations in the instructions that called out specific steps to take to reduce noise levels and the reviewer in that instance stated they didn’t complete one of the tasks. In that case it was user error, all they had to do was follow the well laid out instructions. That all to say, this puppy noise dampens well. I also like that it has a small convenience light on the front panel to indicate its status to you, so you know when it’s running or complete - you’re covered there too!
I’m really enjoying the top buttons compared to the old front buttons. With the front buttons my kids press them because they make noise and light up, and so does my stomach or my belt, if I’m reaching for something in the cabinet etc. But with top buttons they are tucked up under the counter and even small wondering fingers can’t make their way onto them (or my stomach)!
In comparison to our old unit, this GE is night and day difference. And it brings a little peace of mind with the quality build and the GE name!
A few improvements that could be made.
Let’s face it, what’s an honest critique if we don’t find something that can be done better? Something can ALWAYS be improved upon (the principal of continuous improvement)!
Between the old unit and this one we lost some space inside for dishes and maybe silverware (yet to be seen as you can cover down on the new top row with some of the flatware). That removal of extra wash space however is likely what makes them more every efficient etc. I actually don’t mind the loss of a small amount of the interior space as we tend to over pack these things anyway.
I have no other suggested or recommended improvements and I have no other “complaints”.
I installed the unit with no issue as a first timer and needed zero help. I am only slightly mechanically inclined and was able to do this all in about 4 hours start to finish.

It’s also a looker! Looks great in place, we selected the stainless steel and love the look. Picture included.
