Love then hate

At first slightly older version Perfect! Hot coffee ALL day at work no leaks. Then one day -leaked all over my nursing bag! Ruined my blood pressure cuff and a bunch of paperwork. Thought I'd try again with contigo better price got this model. This time read about why they leak don't use dishwasher even though it says you can. But... today someone in my house forgot and ran it through. I saw it and knew what was coming. And yep. Ruined! Leaks. So time to vent.

Seal in lid will not stay

The seal in the lid will not stay. Whenever I try to put the round plastic seal back it keeps popping out thus causing spills. I like the mug but I can’t use if it’s leaking whenever I drink from it.

Nice size but...

They don't keep my coffee hot for long. One of them is coming apart where the outer opaque shell is letting go from the rest of the mug. Not the only mug I own with this lid but don't like either of them. If I fill with water and flavoring, close and shake, it leaks.

Not Happy with this cup

This cup does a great job at keeping my coffee hot. What I do not like about this cup is the seal under the lid. It does not stay in place and I have to reset it every morning or run the risk of spilling hot coffee on myself. Sometimes after screwing the cap on the seal comes out and I go to take a sip and coffee drips on my clothes and burns me. I have been sent a replacement but that does not solve the problem if you don't change the seal design. I done know about the other cups contigo makes but this one I don't recommend in any color or size. Fix this please. What good is a cup the keeps your coffee hot if you will be burned and stained by leakage?
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

High maintenance but works perfectly

Yes! I have read many of your reviews on the Byron Snapseal product.
I see I am not the only on by far...
1) Orange juice will expand the O-ring / quad seal and it will pop out of its groove and cause the product to leak, but, (maintenance) if you remove the "o-ring" and wash it good and let it air dry, it will fit, with a little work and pointed tweezers, back into its grove and perform normally...
2) Yes, they will stink and require a bath once a day... I treat it like my coffee cup or my dinner plate in that regard...
3) I have had 4 of these. Two I have left on the edge of my truck bed and driven off... The container, itself, can take quite a beating but the lid is not impact resistant above three feet, in my experience (Especially with "full" weight... By the way, the third, I left somewhere and plan to retrieve it if I'm ever back there... The fourth is currently offering its typical service as faithfully as it can...
I have an issue with the "Seal Ball" (small roundish silicone ball that actually seals the spout..).. I can only surmise, there is a coating of some sort on the outside of the ball. Over time, food products will "seep" under the coating and discolor it nastily! It still seals but I worry what might be growing under the coating that causes the discoloring... It starts as a "speck", that wont wash off... Soon the ball is totally discolored...
4) One handed???? Well yes, kind of... It takes a strong set of fingers and requires pushing on the center of the lever while pulling up on the periphery of the same lever at the same time... There are other techniques, but, this one works more often for me...
5) Yes they spatter you, the windshield, the head liner the console, and I have cleaned small coffee spots off the back seat... I have also learned how to curtail this issue. I close it before I take it away from my mouth so it spatters my mustache... I save for a treat between sips... To open, I position my hand to give me correct opening leverage, but also guarding the opening...
Check this out, opening with a hot liquid: Initially, it will spatter, but later as total volume starts to cool, a slight vacuum develops, sucking liquid in, but the opposite is true of Cold liquids. As a cold liquid warms, it creates a tiny bit of pressure and spatters very well!! During closing, hot or cold doesn't matter... If you leave liquid on the spout orifice, it is going to spatter when closing..
6) I have looked twice on this site for the O-Ring and the sealing ball... As of yet, I cannot find it...
On the positive side, THIS is the only affordable product in its price range, that with a little MAINTENANCE, seals completely. I love it for that...I have tried MANY products in this price range, but, NONE of them are leak proof... Did I say I LOVE it for that!!!
Access to replacement parts should be easier...

Was best ever...

We have 3 of these and LOVE 2 of them. They are reliable. I have had one for over 5 years. It keeps my coffee hot for a long time and I love that I can just toss it into my bag without a worry. I ordered 2 more, one for my husband and one as back up. Within 6 months, the seal on one of the mugs stopped working and it started leaking. He is now using the other back up mug...and I'm waiting for the shoe to drop.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Pop the Snapseal before increasing top

I have the 16 and 20 oz. (5) Snapseal Byrons. If I release the pressure by releasing the snapseal, the cap seal stays on every time. It's only if there is still pressure and I (use to) unscrew first, the cap ring pops out. Give it a try! Love my Contigo mugs!!!

I love this mug, but lid started to leak!

This has been my favourite mug for both hot and cold drinks/coffee/tea. I got it as a gift last Christmas. I washed/soaked it lovingly by hand. About a month ago it started to leak and the rubber seal came out....never to fit back in correctly again. Is there any way to get a new lid? Shame to just throw it out if I can’t. Reading other reviews, this seems to have happened to others as well.
