It was fairly easy to do, although I wish the detents that tell you when the unit has rotated into place were more pronounced. I installed it and deinstalled it about three times before I convinced myself I had done it correctly.
The unit is very quiet, I like that very much. The Quiet Collar sink baffle is very effective. I don't understand why some reviewers have complained about it.
I replaced another Kitchen Aid disposer that lasted "only" 37 years.

My prior disposal was 1 hp and also had sound insulation but this one seems a little quieter than the prior one. It works fine, no problem grinding waste, and reasonably quiet. So far, completely happy with this purchase.

Another plus is the cover for the drain that can remain securely in place at all times. One simple turn opens or closes the drain.

After 16 years it was still going strong with never a problem. In July of this year we moved to Florence, South Caroling purchasing a home about 8 years old. It wasn't long before the existing disposer started leaking. After we looked at all the big box stores my wife insisted she would have nothing but a KitchenAid disposer because of the flawless service we received in our previous home.
