This Makes Chunkies - Not Smoothies

I bought this at my local grocery store thinking that it would be great for making smoothies with frozen fruits. It has a "smoothie" function & said it was great for crushing ice. I was extremely disappointed with this after the first use for several reasons & will be returning it tomorrow.
First of all, it doesn't blend well for smoothies at all. As in the title, I had chunks of food left over, even though I had it on "Smoothie". It didn't turn out smooth at all. Secondly, this system is extremely difficult to clean. The small plastic center piece in the lid that you can remove is impossible to clean & dry due to its shape. It is also hard to put in & take out. The base piece that the rubber seal & blades sit on is really hard to wash & dry, & it easily starts to undo just by very little movement, even though I tried my best to tighten it down. Third, it splashes any liquidy stuff all up & down the jar & all over the lid on the inside top, so you're not even getting all of the smoothie you're making. It makes a mess when you take the lid off because stuff is all over the lid. Fourth, my other blenders always had a "clean" function. This one does not. If a blender is difficult to clean and/or has very sharp blades like this one does, a "clean" function is a must for me.

Confused

There's an "extra" piece on the base. Not sure what's it's there for. No user manual included, but there's a Quick Start Guide that tells me it intended to be a substitute for the User Manual, but again there's no User Manual. Looked on like and still cannot figure out what this piece is for. It looks like it's removable, but with my luck, if I removed it, it would end up being the most important part of the blender. Can someone help me out? Thanks

Great blending capabilities until blades broke off

I loved my blender because I make fruit and vegetable smoothies daily. It chopped the fresh vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, celery and red beets along w/a variety of fruits, juice and ice cubes, into a smooth, nutritious and drinkable smoothie. Last week after adding the ice cubes, I knew from the clinking that I was chopping more than just ice. I stopped and poured my concoction through a strainer and found a single blade. I couldn't believe my eyes. Stupidly, I used my blender the following day only to have a second single blade break off. That was scary. I did love it, although I've had issues with leaking, too. I'd just have to take it apart to do a deep cleaning, then it would be leak free again. The blades breaking off though- Eek!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Halfway works

Owned this a couple of years. Use it often but definitely not daily. Blender is working but food processor blade does not spin. I have two food processor canisters and neither one spins.

Check to see if the drive shaft spins easily by hand. If it does, your food processor's capacitor may be faulty and needs to be replaced. If the drive shaft does not spin easily by hand, and the motor is spinning and humming, your blender's motor may be damaged.

Outstanding shakes and smoothies

My old Oster blender had a row of buttons across the front that selected the speed. While that was okay for 1980, this new blender takes the worry out of which speed to choose. It has preprogrammed buttons for chopping, smoothies and shakes. Each button combines the optimal speeds and blade directions for that task. My shakes and smoothies have never been so good before.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought first and glass jar broke and I buy another one only because no replacement them another jar broke i don't know what to do, but before that I change 2 of Stud Slinger Pin because rust and damage, I miss orders one
