Awesome ! (but can use some improvement)

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First the thing is great! I love the back and forth motion of the motor. The unit is very noisy, but its definitely a powerful motor. Perhaps a bit too powerful - as the main spine that sticks up worked loose, sadly the threads were the only thing holding in in place (it wasnt also pinned). Another disappointing thing were the smootie cups there is a gap between the inside part of the cup and where the threads are molded in, regeretablly food gets stuck in there making it hard to remove and one there it gets stuck and spoils, making the smoothie cup less than hygienic. Dont get me wrong this blender is awesome just hoping the main spine could be pinned as well as threaded into the top.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Oster 1200 plus to replace my ninja. Let me tell you, it's the best thing since "sliced bread" not that I didn't like my ninja, I just didn't like the plastic jar when I had to blend things that required extremely hot water. What I didn't expect was for the Oster to also out perform my ninja, everything I did with it just hands down out performed my ninja from smoothies to milkshakes and food processing. I had this baby for about 4 months now and I am LOVING IT! I use it everyday and it is absolutely the best even when it comes to the price. So, do not hesitate to purchase the Oster 1200 Plus.

Worked Great At First, But Parts Keep Breaking

I bought this blender about one year ago. It does its job very well, even though it is really loud. I use the glass jar rarely, however, it's sturdy and has a nice size to blend larger amounts of fruit, vegetables, salsa, etc. Instead, I mostly use the smoothie cup for individual servings. Until about three months ago, I had no issues with it; it worked perfectly fine. I then noticed that the top rim of the smoothie cup had a large crack and that liquids started gathering inside the rim just below the screw part (see picture). I wasn't able to clean since the gap is too small. I contacted the Oster customer service via email, but in their response I was told that the cup is not covered by the warranty. So far so good, I thought I could live with a cracked top since it still worked fine except for an occasional leak. A few weeks ago, I then noticed that the blade started letting some of the liquids from the inside of the cup through to the bottom of the blade when blending. That creates a mess inside the power unit's top (where you place the blade) and the bottom of the screw top (see picture).
Overall, this blender does its job, but I'm disappointed of the quality of the aforementioned parts. I am considering replacing this blender with a different brand to hopefully get a better quality.

amazing blender and even better customer service

This blender is amazing, the 3 programmed blending speeds are perfect for frozen smoothies. it never gets stuck or puts too much load on the motor. even better is the WARRANTY!! The metaal post that connects to the blade came undone one day and i emailed customer service. the parts to repair were backordered, so they sent me a replacement blender the next day. Buying Oster is worth it!!

Love this blender

Bought this blender last February and use it daily for smoothies and with the food processor attachment to make hummus. It's the best, much better than our previous Vitamixer, and more versatile. We are having a small problem with the blender motor "stalling out". All it takes to get it going is to take the blender off the base, turn it off, and turn the motor by hand a half turn, and then the blender will work again. No biggie, but an annoyance. Does anyone else have this problem? Other than that this is the best blender and food processor combo for the money we have ever had, and we've had quite a few!

Good functionality

Just received our blender -- have trusted Oster products for years with our last purchase over 20 years ago and it finally gave out -- The functionality of this product is good but it lacks greatly in appearance. The color description as stated is "brushed nickel". The finish is actually a cheap plastic chrome and not brushed as it appears in the photograph.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Makes great smoothies!

I would love this blender if they could fix the issue with the smoothie cup. In addition to the thin "pin line" that gathers dirt (mentioned in a review above), my cup leaks after a few months of use. The cup is so much more convenient than using the big glass blender but, unless they redesign it (no food catcher rim, sturdier plastic to stand up to the blender use and the on/off threading), I'm not sure a parts replacement will help for the long haul. The processor was also a little disappointing because no matter how I tried, it seemed to chop everything super fine. One pulse means uneven chunks, a few pulverized it. It does make GREAT smoothies when it's working properly.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
