great blender; processor has learning curve

We are pleased with our Oster Pro 1200 blender so we ordered the food processor attachment. Tried to make cole slaw using the circular shredder/grater disc. Pushing cabbage & carrots down against the shredder/grater disc attachment, the food just deflects the disc and the processor doesn't work. Tried putting the food into the processor with the bottom blades running, the motor is so powerful it turns the cabbage and carrots into a powder even using the slowest speed. Finally an idea: I cut the cabbage and carrots into 1 inch pieces and put them in the processor BEFORE I turned it on, using the bottom blades, not the circular shredder/grater. Then I close the top and just barely touch the "pulse" button for about a millisecond. Two or three of these millisecond pulses and I had the makings of cole slaw! Success! Suggest you put something on your website on this.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love this combo package except for one thing

I bought this last May. I use the ice crushing several times a day. I am on my fourth new blade. I ordered three more today. I don't understand why Oster created such a quality product with such a poor quality blade. I am sure I am not the only customer with this problem. It seems to me that Oster would correct this flaw. I would recommend this product to my friends and tell them to go ahead and order extra blades.

I purchased my blender a few months back and I love it. I am however disappointed in the fact that my base cracked and I have not been able to find one the same size to continue using my blender. Does anyone have any information on how to replace that?

Great housewarming gift!

I got this several days ago (less the food processor attachment) and have made several smoothies with it. It works even better than my old Vitamix, which my ex got in the divorce.
The programs are well thought-out and implemented. Compared to an older blender, it has that much larger blade assembly (like Vitamix) and auto reversing inn the programs, so you don't have to pulse and babysit it.
I particularly like the to-go jar: just blend your morning smoothie in it, turn it over, and replace the blade base worth the to-go lid. Rinse the blades before you go and clean up is easy at the end of the day.
Why only 4 stars?
1) it's very loud. Aren't we advanced enough to have a quieter blender, these days?
2) pouring it on a small towel on your counter quiets it down, but then it walks around a bit. It's kind of buzzy, then there's the reversing action.
They're nitpicks, but 5 stars means PERFECT, right? I'm sure they could be fixed with a nicer motor (brushless) and some extra $in a higher end model.
Aside from this and the Vitamix, I've also had the classic Oster bee hive model. That I've had the smaller blade assembly and needs to be babysat. No electronics. This one is better in every way.
I would recommend this to a friend!

powerful motor

I've always bought Osters, something I picked up from my mother because she still has her blender that's easily 20 years old. I like making smoothies and had a single serve cheap thing that worked for me. When the motor on my last Oster died I thought this was perfect because I wouldn't need 2 appliances to blend small and large items. I love my blender but the smoothie cup is flawed. I've had this blender over a year and I love how it makes my smoothies but the cup had a crack in the area just below the threading within in 2 uses. Food gets stuck and you can't clean it. I've even gone so far as to soak it multiple times to make sure mold doesn't grow in the area. I'm disappointed that I can't replace the cup and based on some of the other reviews this flaw is not as rare an occurrence.
