The Jar Lip Is Too Loose

I have the time to rewrite my review. There are some pros and cons in a comparison with other Oste blender models. One of the pros is more power and one of the cons is the lip is too loose which can be a safety issue in addition to making a big mess.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Other blenders in this price range suggest that they can pulverize food and make a smoothie, well that may be but it will be chunky. This is a pro blender with extra power and reverse blending that makes a smoothie a smoothie!!! I love mine and it is a great blender at the price.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Blender functions well; Difficult to clean

Overall, the blender works well. It chopped ice nicely too. It is a little noisy, but I believe most blenders are anyway. I feel there are a couple design flaws to make mention of. First, the smoothie cup is made of multiple plastic pieces that are fused together at a joint/seam. No matter what I blend in the smoothie cup, food particles end up stuck in the joint/seams. The joint/seam is so tight, I can't get anything in there to clean the food out. (See pictures below) I bought the unit because of the smooth cup, so it was a waste if I cannot use it and feel confident is it sanitary. Second, the blade system consists of a multi-blade piece, rubber gasket, and the plastic black base. The blade is very sharp too, which is good. Because it is difficult to take the 3 pieces apart for cleaning every time it used, I hesitate to disassemble it every time I use it, for fear I will cut myself. In general, it seems a bit unhealthy to me if the machine parts cannot be cleaned properly. It chopped ice nicely too. It is a little noisy.

I was initially looking for a "personal blender" with a 24 oz blending cup, you know their names, "as seen on TV". As rated by those who bought them, those units with enough power were great initially, but didn't last with motor burnouts and numerous failures. Those with less power lasted longer, but weren't fully up to whatever task you throw at them. Some reviewers said they were happier with their tough old blenders. Really? Of all the blenders within a medium price range rated by customers who bought them , the Oster Pro 1200 Plus (BLSTMB-CBG) had about a 4.7 rating out of 5 that I cold find, DEFINITELY a standout from the others. The low down: high speed "cruise" blending at 900 watts, 1200 watts rated for heavy mixes, 6 SHARPENED blades at 3 levels at large diameter close to the inside of the jar OR cup, automatic reverse to free ice jam-ups, 6 cup glass jar AND 24 oz blend cup included (Yaaah!), and power to drive a food processor option if you want to add that later! With a 3 year factory satisfaction guarantee, & a 10 year all metal drive factory warranty, all this at the equivalent price of an "as seen on TV" lesser value product, HOW CAN YOU BEAT THIS VALUE, at this price?

okay, but issues

The food processor does not shut off when you open the lid. Any other processor I have used has a safety feature that causes the blade to stop immediately if the lid is loose. This is a big safety problem for me.
Also, the cup had a rim of mold that grew right after the first use in the seam. I've tried bleaching it and trying to get it out, but it is still there. Now, the cup split apart at that seam while it was on. Breakfast smoothie splattered all over the kitchen and me, plus the dripping mess from the cup parts. What a mess. I would not recommend this product for that reason.
It does seem to have a powerful motor.

Purchased this as a replacement blender. The glass container was a awesome plus. I’ve put it through smoothies, milkshakes and adult beverages. This blender is awesome. My only regret is that I didn’t buy this earlier. Awesome job Oster.

I bought the blender to make smoothies and was excited about the smoothie cup. However, I can’t find extra cups that will fit the 1200 pro! Are there any available???
