Nice multi-purpose unit for the price

So far, I've only tried using the primary blending container for smoothies. The blender changing speeds on the smoothie setting works great to give a well blended smoothie using frozen fruit. The only longevity concern is the slight burning smell from the motor. Hopefully this isn't indicative of a problem. The blender base is a nice size (not huge) and includes the standard low, medium, high settings in addition to the 3 preprogrammed settings. Like other reviewers, I don't know the purpose of the tab on the bottom of the blending jar but it looks like it could easily be snagged and broken.
The smaller "to go" blending jar is a nice feature though I doubt I'll even use it. It is quite large though and may not fit into most cup holders.
I love having the food processor bowl with slicing/ shredding disc included as well as the chopping blade. I haven't used that attachment yet but have no doubt it will work well given the features and blade sharpness. The 5 cup bowl is a nice size - big enough to accomplish most tasks without pausing to empty the bowl too frequently but small enough to minimize storage space needs. The disc and blade can both be stored in the bowl when not in use. I'm hoping this will allow me to get rid of an old 7 cup stand-alone food processor or at least allow it to be moved to a seldom accessed storage space.
Overall, a nice unit for a good price. I just hope it lasts well.

I just bought this blender combo and love it. use it every day. however, if you buy dont buy the milk shake attachment does not work with it. they need to make one that fits. however I do wish they had more different type of blades that would fit it.

Great blender/food processor

When I saw this item showing it had both blender and processor I was in aahhh and had to get it. I also liked the bonus mini juice blender that it came with it. Love the smart settings technology for smoothies, salsa and shakes. It even shuts off automatically. Only 2 issues I had was 1. after about a couple months of use it began to make a really loud rumbling sound and 2. just last month, the food processor stem stripped and wore out. I called Oster to address the issue and they had no problem in replacing my blender.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great at making smoothies with ice, frozen fruit etc.
Average/Fair job at making banana ice cream from frozen bananas.

Very happy so far at this price point and the smoothie function is surprisingly accurate the first time.
Makes me fee quite good about passing on the Vitamix.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] gave away my 20 year old basic Oster for this new more powerful and pretty blender :). Sadly, it was a big disappointment. I do thick smoothies, so it is so powerful that it creates an air pocket and it doesn't mix at all. I need to water it down to make it like a juice. tried different ways with no luck.:(

Quality blender, but a tad noisy

I received this as a test sample product, and I have to admit, it's a pretty good blender. There are lots of features that help it blend well, and the glass container and attachments are great quality. The only downside found was blending ice. It doesn't give the margarita type slush, also sounds like a jet engine.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Thanks for sharing your review! The blender is powerful and can be a bit noisy, depending on what your blending. To obtain the desired consistency for your margaritas, you may have to play around with the amount of liquid used vs. the amount of ice. Everything you are looking for in a blender!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We were searching for a blender that could power through kale and frozen fruit breakfast smoothies and this model is it. With just a push of the pre-programmed smoothie button, this blender quickly begins to automatically mix, oscillating left, right, which pulls the ingredients down towards the blades then finishing at the highest speed. I no longer have to stop my blender to periodically push down the ingredients, thanks to the powerful dual direction blade technology and wide glass jar. The end result is the smoothest product with only the smallest of particles remaining. Works beautifully for blending ingredients for soup. This blender is relatively quiet and easy to clean. Smoothie cup is a bonus for on the go breakfasts. We have tried other blenders, without pleasing results. Do not hesitate, this blender is a tremendous product at a great price!

Great Performance, Poor Smoothie Cup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this unit a couple of weeks ago to replace my smoothie blender. The Oster is powerful at a low price point. I am pleasantly surprised by how well it makes smoothies. Here's the problem; the 24oz Smoothie Cup has a thin gap about two inches below the opening. Residue from blended items are collecting in that space. It is impossible to clean out. I am worried about bacteria, so that makes the cup unusable. Since it only comes with one smoothie cup, that is a big problem. Had it not been for that issue, this is essentially a 5 Star product.
