Oster Pro 1200 is an affordable high end blender!

Overall I give this blender four and a half stars, but it won't let me give the extra half. The appearance is really nice but I wish the base was actually metal instead of plastic covered in chrome coating. I love how secure it sits in the base and how snug the lid fits (however the lid feels like very cheap and brittle plastic). The portable cup is nice but really large.
The controls are simple and easy to operate and the preprogrammed cycles are so convenient! I love how the dual direction blade automatically switches back and forth so that any jams are worked out without having to take the lid off. It also blends, even ice, very well!
There's a tab on the base of the pitcher that I'm not sure what the purpose is, but I feel like it's going to catch on something and break off. The other little nit-picky thing is that the clear center piece of the lid allows liquid to leak through if you set it upside down.
I received this product as a sample to test and review.

Definitely a permanent fxture in my kitchen

I received this blender as a trial to test its features. I thought this would be just another blender and I was intending to give it to my sister as soon as I was done testing it out. But I ended up changing my mind, so sorry sis!
The different settings are more than just varying blade speeds, but preprogrammed intervals. If you blend smoothies or use food processors a lot, you probably end up doing what I do-- pulsing and then stopping to push the food down the sides of the cup with a spatula. With this blender, the wider base reduces the need to push the food down the sides and the settings have pause between pulsing intervals to allow the food to settle down to the bottom.
The clean-up is no more complicated than any other blender. The rubber gasket that prevents leakage has to fit into the base threading just right to sit flat.
The only negative I noticed is the additional fixtures. The to-go smoothie cup is great, but I also noticed in the owner's manual that there is a food processor attachment and blades available for this model. I would have gladly paid extra to have this additional feature for this blender.

Nice blender with excellent features

The Oster pro 1200 blender did an excellent job of making the green smoothies that I enjoy with banana, spinach, peanut butter and almond milk. The blender was easy to use. I really enjoy the programmed settings/manual control which makes it easy to use no matter what function you are wanting to perform. The performance was excellent as my smoothie turned out delicious and met my expectations from my experiences with previous blenders used to make the same smoothie. The appearance is my least favorite thing about the blender. The appearance is still not bad. The performance is much more important to me though. Cleanup was not as bad as it has been with other products in the past. Having dishwasher safe components makes cleaning up much easier. The product seems to be of good quality. I did not have any issues after my first few times using the product. Overall this blender exceeds my expectations with the performance and features offered being the highlights of the product for me. Disclaimer: I received this blender as a sample to review and I was impressed with the performance.

This blender is fabulous! It performs better than any expectations I had before purchasing! The shaker cup was such an appreciated extra bonus too! This blender has all the functions you could possibly need, and then some! And it has a very stylish design that meshes well with my modern styled kitchen. If you're looking for a high quality performance blender, with all the bells and whistles, than this is it!

I love my Oster pro 1200! We used it to make a roasted red pepper hummus and smoothies ! The hummus was store bought in quality. It was yummy! So much better than my old traditional blender!

Powerhouse blender with a great warranty

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The powerful Pro 1200's performance can match that of premium-priced blenders. It makes short work of extremeky fibrous green smoothie ingredients and quickly turns ice into snow. Yes, it's loud, but that doesn't bother me. All blenders are noisy. My mother used Oster blenders for 40+ years. Her Osterizer Galaxie from the 1970's still runs like a champ.

Great blender but...

I love the blender...it's great quality for a great price. My only complaint is that I have had it for 3 weeks and the smoothie part is already ruined. There's a small crack between the body and head that food easily gets in and is impossible to clean. After three weeks it's already moldy and I have to throw it away. Very disappointed because the smoothie part is my favorite.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have went through many blenders and this by far has been the best blender for my small kitchen. I make a smoothie just about 6 days a week. But I would love to order another smoothie cup so my hubby and I don't have to fight over it. I have even gotten my Aunt to purchase one for her house.
