Turbo Tax for Estates & Trusts
on April 8, 2017
Posted by: TimFitzOak
Turbo Tax Business is more difficult to work with as compared to Turbo Tax Home & Business. a) Investments: It will not let you import your investment account transactions meaning if you are dealing with many stocks & transactions you will spend a long time typing in everything b) Lack of adequate help: The help functions are marginal c) Can't electronically file for California so must print out and mail. d) Lacks a good interface with state taxes and Fed. When you go file, and file electronically for the Fed, then you have to go back to the middle and start over the process to print out the State.
What's great about it: Adds most things up
What's not so great: fails to import stock transactions

This customer did not provide a text review.
What's great about it: Simple, straightforward interview process with complete set of forms needed for my business
What's not so great: It needs a specific printing step for State Returns instead of just stating it will be necessary.

Could not allocate deduction based on a resource liability which seems like a basic part of LLC partnership.
Otherwise, good product, got most of it done.
What's great about it: Interview method is smooth
What's not so great: Does not cover all aspects of LLC partnership yet

For Trusts missing brokerage integration
on April 9, 2017

For personal taxes turbo tax will log into the broker and pull down all data. That featue is not present in the business version that is used for filing trusts. Instead all brokerage data must be manually entered
What's not so great: al data must be manually entered

What's great about it: Being able to check for errors...
What's not so great: Having to find data from 2015 Turbotax
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

* Overall does a good job of putting the info in the right place and saves a lot of time
* The balance sheet is a mess! Does not interview properly to fill it.
* Also, when you make a mistake in the interview and go back and change it, the option, most of the time is gone. Either you have to manually change in the form or start all over again.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Does not to a good job of balance sheet
