Disappointed

If I found a viable alternative to Turbo Tax, I would have used it. It is hard to believe a large tax preparation product would penalize MAC users!
What's great about it: Easy to Use
What's not so great: There is not a MAC version

Very difficult to follow the process. The review and printing and filing was a real pain. Filed FEDERAL Electronically had to file MD State by mail. Couldn't separate the two.
What's great about it: Got the job done
What's not so great: Review and printing was not clear

Not bad. But you automatically in cluded MA state trust return when I really only needed AZ. I live in MA and file a MA individual return for myself but this was prepared for family trust set up in AZ.
What's great about it: pretty fast
What's not so great: needing special name control slowed down filing

Overall -- TT for Business took a complex process and simplified it for a novice business owner to complete my business tax return.
What's great about it: Logical way of asking for the information
What's not so great: Some sections did not have enough help built into the section

Pros: I had a baby, I bought or sold investments, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Poor planning

So WHY don't they tell you, when you download software OFF the internet, that you WILL NOT be able to access that tax return unless you use the SAME PASSWORD ON THE SAME COMPUTER. Why for heavens sake, wouldn't they just automatically save your file when you file electronically? I have fought this for the last 4 years and will no longer use them. It would be really easy for them to just store it for you, but they don't. You pay enough, you would think they would. I am switching to TaxAct.
What's great about it: Makes taxes easy.
What's not so great: Confusing about how to access from last year.

Not User Friendly for First Time LLC
on April 4, 2017

I had $300 income and $568 expenses where $268 was carried forward to future years...net $0...but TT computes a profit of $19??? I don't have a good feeling about the rigour of this program.
A bit hard to follow.
What's great about it: Easy to file, data transfer from previous year is anticipated.
What's not so great: Program doesn't handle a short year...(first year of LLC that starts business after 1 Jan)
