Big Help when needed

As an owner of a small business who spent thousands of dollars over the years on private accountants, I can say with out a doubt I should have used Turbo Tax small business YEARS AGO!

easy to use, navigation is simple. Took a lot of the aggravation out of doing taxes. Very easy to understand.
would use it every year if you did not have to buy separate versions. as business and personal does not offer 1065 which we have to file.
older Quickbooks will not import but that is not too inconvenient . all in all would highly recommend.

Problems with CA reporting of 1031 exchange

In 2016 our company engaged in a 1031 exchange in which we sold an apartment building in California in exchange for a commercial building in Florida. TurboTax flagged the balance sheet in California Form 568 pages 5-6 with an error in every entry, including the balance sheet for last year, even though the balance sheet was identical to the one submitted with Form 1065 pages 4-5, which was not flagged at all. I called the CA Franchise Tax Board, who agreed this was a software bug.
What's great about it: Federal return worked well
What's not so great: CA return was ridden with false errors

Could stand a lot of improvement

For the price, this software is only minimally helpful.
(1) I am filling out tax forms for a Qualified Disability Trust, but the software keeps insisting that I choose between a Simple Trust and a Complex one. The only way to change that is to go into the form itself and check the correct box. Even then, the software keeps demanding one of its two choices and you just have to ignore that and get past it.
(2) When listing dividend income, it allows you to put in a summary amount, saying that copies of supporting documents, listing the actual transactions will have to be attached before filing. Its only after you have scanned all those pages that you find out that the software wont let let you attach more than one page and you have to mail a paper return after all!
(3) This is the third year in a row that a MN state form has not been available. So, I consider that Im only getting half the product that Im paying for.

What's not so great: 1. PLEASE develop a Mac version of TT Business. 2. Need the ability to download Brokerage Information fileing Trust.

Documentation on Program Updates

While I enjoy using the Premier and the Corp Business tax programs, the failure of documenting what the corrections are in the various releases, makes me question if I want to continue using these programs in the future.
What's not so great: For at lest 2-years TurboTax has not solved the problem of documenting the program updates

TTAX 2016 for Business & System Requirements

The Turbotax for Business 2016 software operates fine. It is facile to use, seems well designed and not buggy, and appears to be more intuitively designed over the last couple years as compared to some older versions. That said, some of the "explanatory" parts of the program could be less terse.
What's great about it: The program works very well, seems well designed, and is intuitively straightforward to use.
What's not so great: CD version of software would not install onto desktop computer with unquestionably sufficient system requirements

This was the first time I had to file Form 1065. It was very easy. I was able to E-File it right away. Saved me many a lot of $$$$ doing it myself. I feel very confident that everything was done correctly!
What's great about it: Very Easy to use!!
What's not so great: No MI state forms.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
