What's great about it: easy to import
What's not so great: need additional software to complete personal taxes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Smooth

I have used TurboTax for the last 6 years and been very happy with it. Some variances in tax treatment between the Federal version and California state version have had to wait for updates in order to understand how to fix the errors.
What's great about it: Very good step by step software with reviews
What's not so great: Some errors are difficult to resolve without waiting for updates

Turbo Tax makes the annual dreaded tast so painless! Kudos, as always!
What's great about it: Makes tax prep a breeze!
What's not so great: It doesn't organize paper receipts. :-)

Have used this for years

While QuickBooks integrates, one must still check to ensure all expenses flow in properly. While I understand that only 50% of meals and entertainment may be written off, Turbo Tax refused to put in any of them. I finally divided the number in half and put that number in as a "company picnic" to force the issue. Unfortunately the schedule now shows that the 50% expense is 100%, which I used white out to take care of. This is the first year I have had this issue. Overall, this program is a great time saver and I have confidence in the numbers.
What's great about it: QuickBooks integrates
What's not so great: Founds a small bug

TurboTax Business needs some work
on March 5, 2017

Although Form 1065 provides entries for Investment Expenses, the step-by-step TurboTax does not provide any way to enter these expenses so they appear in the K-1s for each partner. I had to ask help from the TurboTax forum who told me I would have to go to the 1065 Form Section K and override to make the entries so they would appear in K-1s. I had to override again.
Also the Arizona Form 165, Sched E when completed by TurboTax business did not enter the pro-rated share for listed partners.
What's great about it: Makes it easy to prepare return
What's not so great: Step by step doesn't support entry of Investment Expenses
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Not that easy

The bottom line is that I was disappointed with this product. It was a very frustrating experience. There wasn't enough explanation on some of the items. To try and get answers to questions was difficult. To get a live person for help, you have to wait several days. I felt sorry I tried doing my own taxes this year. I should have just gone with my tax account like other years. I didn't really save that much money and the frustrations wasn't worth it.
What's great about it: There were parts that I liked
What's not so great: Not all questions were answered

Started using it back in the 1990's when it became available for corporations. I use it with QuickBooks Pro, so importing the information is streamlined. QuickBooks doesn't always transfer where I think it would, but it's not a big deal to match the P&L line items with where they show up on the 1120.
What's great about it: Have used TurboTax for decades.
